Anyone experience painting the black lower areas? My thoughts were to paint the black areas the body color, some of the OTO's are painted the body color and it seems clean and would be more pleasing and applying the areas with 3M or Venture sheild versus applying it to the matte finish - looks off and shiny on the matte black. The "challenge wheels" on the 599 are called the 20" Monolithic wheels. -Ed Image Unavailable, Please Login
To my eye the car would appear a bit deeper if the lower valence was not black matte and maybe take away from the lines a bit? I think the black matte finish on lower valence tends to reduce the height a bit and without it might change the look? Easy to repaint that when needed. Just my perception. john
Doug, I'd leave the rocker panels as-is. the car has a lot of visual height between the rockers and beltline as it is, especially in a lighter color such as yours. also, with a light metallic color, there's no guarantee that a decent color/texture match could be made-you might regret how it looks, or have to pay to have it returned to stock. as for the rims....do it. I love those rims. have you seen JPM's 612 (pozzi blue, I think) with those rims? looks awesome. the other rims I like for the 612 are the one-piece Novitecs, like this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is a photo of my 612 during its delivery; painting the lower parts of the sills and the rear bumper is a worthwhile option on medium/light colours. Applying Ventureshield protection is an absolute must. On the wheels; I've seen very elegant 612s with all other wheel options; the 20" wheel a bit more universally accepted but don't discount other solutions. Away for business at the moment...missing the 612 baaaadly. On that note, there is (I am told...) another Blu Iridescente 612 (with Cuoio?) that was specified when mine was on the production line; Anyone here? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks...alas, I've lost ALL the photos I took for posting in the forum when my Mac's disc crashed without hope for recovery...my first problem with a Mac since the old Lisa days. Luckily, good photo weather is upon us...
Thanks Chas I haven't - but the problem is the flat back gets beat up really quick and putting on a Venture shield / 3M product looks horrible. The Novitec's are awesome - my only issue is they look similar to what I have. Would like to see JPM's!
Thanks - nice 612! The car is done right! I am lost on the rear bumper and behind the rear wheels. Please throw up some pics or clarify from the rear wheels back. Thank You in advance
JPM is often at Cars & Coffee or F1 events at STL Motorsports. there's a C&C this Saturday at 9....stop by and hopefully he'll be there. as to the Novitecs, yes they are a similar design but cleaner/not as busy. I still think the factory 20's are the way to go.
Ricky - On which car do you have 19" monolithics? Only the 360 CS and f430 used those as far as I know. Those use 5x108mm wheel bolt patterns and the 20" monolithics for the 612 and 599 use a 5x114mm bolt pattern. If you buy 20" monolithics for a non 612/599 car, they will not fit. If there were 19" monolithics for the 612, I will add them to my list.
