Must have been a big one. Lots of shaking in the South bay!!!
You ain't ****tin' Felt that a long, long, long ways away. Punchy on the outer limits. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Maps/special/California_Nevada.php Details - Baja Cali http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/ci14607652.php
I happened to be talking to someone online and have the timestamps. It rolled here (in Redondo) for almost two full minutes. I much prefer these smooth rolling ones to the crazy middle-of-the-night jerky ones.
You must have gotten a pretty good jolt down there! I was 10 stories up and it was enough to make me a little sea sick. I think this one was really deep.
My wife and daughter are in San Diego and were in an elevator at the time. They said it was big. The elevator shut down and they got out. They just finished walking up ten flights of stairs to their room. Felt nothing here at my house.
I was out driving the Ferrari (where you all should have been) and didn't feel a thing except the sublime rumble of my V8. I got home and my wife was all buggy-eyed.
Arrived home in Laguna Niguel and the wife asked if I'd felt the quake. I said no, as I was driving the Shelby(which does plenty of rocking and rolling all by itself) at the time. Sitting here at the computer I definitely felt the aftershock, though!
Heres a California map that shows by location the most recent shakers http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/ Here's a California map of all the helicorder stations(graphs with the zig-zag lines) http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/waveforms/helicorder/index.html
I was out riding my bike on Mulholland Highway and I didn't feel a thing. I stopped at the Rock Store for lunch and it had already happened because I heard people talking about it. I got home to Woodland Hills and my landlady and her friend felt it.
USGS is indicating it was 6.2 miles down and a 7.2 magnitude. I'm glad your wife and daughter are okay Jon. We were upstairs and the floor was rocking up and down quite a bit, enough to wake the baby up and that kid sleeps through just about anything!
I was at my house in Ventura for the weekend. Felt a mild rolling and the house creaking a bit. Pretty amazing since Ventura is probably 250+ miles from the epicenter.
Im just glad I took one of the cars off of the lift.. I had one way up high for the past several weeks...Whew....
