Gents, please let me know your opinion on what price would be a fair price to ask for my 355 based on the following:

    - 1997 355 Red/Tan Berlinetta stick shift
    - 29K Miles
    - Very Good condition interior and exterior
    - No sticky parts
    - No dash shrinkage
    - Built in K-40 radar
    - 6 CD remote changer
    - Major Service at Ferrari Dealership in Dec 2007
    - No oil leaks whatso ever
    - Outstanding engine performance with no valve or compression issues
    - Tires still have over 80% threading
    - Serviced at Ferrari dealership
    - Ice Cold Aircondition
    - New brake and ABS pump in 2005
    - New clutch at 25K miles
    - All books and records

Please let me know your opinion on a fair price.
    Thanks

I was going to say $60k too (before I saw the other comment). Cars with 20k miles and a major in 2009 seem to be selling for about $65k right now, which is actually up about $5k from the fall.

Price depends on whether it is a local private sale, local dealer sale, long distance internet sale or ebay sale.

You'd only buy on ebay to get the cheapest car you could find- You'd buy from your local ferrari dealer for some level of confidence in the car.

Small things mean a lot regarding pricing- Parts may not be sticky but is the rubber scratched and scraped- leather condition- seat condition, carpet condition- are the wheels clean and completely curb-free- front and rear bumpers and side skirts clean and completely pit and chip free??

I've found the difference between "Mint" and "Clean" is a LOT. I'd rather spend the $5K now rather than invest $10-12K in repairing small condition issues.

    What "full" said.
I just bought a 99 355, I got a good deal after looking for about a year. $60,000 with 29,000 miles and the major done 3-4 years ago??? That's a lot for a 355. I know I'll get hit from some guys for saying this but...after these cars hit 30,000 miles, the price goes off a big cliff, simply because at the moment, there are so many out there with less miles.
If you have the car for a few years and put 8-9k miles on it, now your selling a Ferrari with 40,000 miles on it...good luck.
I paid less then $60,000 with a fresh major, new tires and 11,000 miles. I'd keep looking. The best things you can do is 3 things "PPI, compression, leak down". I had 2 that never made it through the PPI. Good luck in your search, keep in mind, your in the drivers seat, your part of the country has "em everywhere.

Major service was done in Dec 2007, we are April 2010.... How did you figure major done 3-4 years ago?

You paid less than $60K for a 99' with fresh major and 11K miles? I hope you really checked the car for prior accidents.

you 355 owner are in denial on the value of these cars. at 60k or more one might as well spring for a 360.

the potential problems of 355 no longer justifies a high price. Looks aside because that's a matter of opinion.

when pricing the car and a potential buyer see 60k for a 355 a 70k for a 360 knowing the major on a 360 is about half the cost of a 355...which looks to be a better value? And before someone jumps in about the condition of the 360, good 1999 or 2000 can be had for 70k all day and night.

THESE ARE ONLY CARS in a crappy market.

    50-55 is mi 2 cents

I don't get the point....seems everytime somebody posts a "whats my car worth" thread they don't like the answer. I am no happier than the rest with regard to the declining values of our cars, but it is a fact. Price your car too high and you will likely sit on it - that is the reality. I wish you the best of luck, I really do. The higher the number you get the better for everyone here....

Good luck with your $60K 360...

You seem to imply that the ONLY thing one should look for when purchasing a 355 is PRICE. Most of us are looking for QUALITY- and if that means spending $5K more now to ensure the seat leather is clean and the carpets perfect and the front and rear bumper covers not cracked, pitted or chipped and the car had a VERY recent Major, and maybe has a badass exhaust on it and a challenge grille and fresh rubber and windows that go up and down quickly and a windscreen that is not pitted or "sandy" and a recent clutch and recent brakes and recent cats etc. etc. etc....- I think that is an incredibly wise investment. Looking at ebay prices without physically inspecting a LOT of cars and making a comprehensive list of what each car has and does not have...is just foolish.

A worn 360 can get expensive in a heartbeat- Have you quoted front and rear bumper covers from your friendly FNA dealer?? Switches? Gauges? you can burn through the better part of $10K and not even address anything mechanical- I don't know about you- but this car is a total toy for me- I want it perfect and flawless and clean as a whistle. My car is no garage queen- with 30k on the clock, but nothing's sticky, nothing's scratched, and the one comment I get continually is "Is that new?".

I think you're looking at $80K for a reasonable 360, and the color combos I like are routinely trading hands in the $85-100K range. I really like the yellow on black look and the 360 I looked at was $95K-$105k EVERYWHERE...(Except ebay)

I agree with all the statements. I just launched into a high quality 355 fitting all those descriptions and paid much less than $60k. These prices don't hold up.

And I want 355 but 360 is too close in price.

Also, the market determines worth and right the market says they ain't worth what they use to be. Don't understand why 355 owner refuse to come to grips with the fact that they car ain't worth much

Well "Close" in price is a subjective thing.

I think $55-$60K buys you a wonderful 355 right now.

I think $88-100K buys you a wonderful 360 right now.

Both represent an almost unimaginable devaluing of the purchase price of the car- but the fact still remains a 348 is cheaper than a 355, which is cheaper than a 360, which is cheaper than a 430 etc.

I don't think anyone here is selling, nor should any of really give a cr*p what the car is worth... so I'm not sure why you seem to feel it is your duty to educate us 355 owners as to the worthlessness of our cars.

To my eyes the 355 is the last of the really "Classic" V8 Ferrari looks- I do not care for the Mini Testarossa 348 look- and the 360 really does not do it for me cosmetically- Just as the 328 is now in many cases more valuable than the 348, I think in the future a clean low mileage 355 will begin to rise in price slightly. If it does not I could care less-

I got a great deal on my car- But if I had found the same exact car for $6K more that already had the stuff sorted that I have fixed in the past month- stickies, curbed wheels, dead f1 indicator, various electrical gremlins and some interior issues- I gladly would have paid it.

Another 355 owner in denial ...someone should start 355 anonymous.

Can't understand why 355 guys like their cars are the epitome of V8 Ferraris

NICE 360 can be had for less than 80k all day. They may ask for more but they wanna move it they except less

Maintainence will play a major role in prices of 355 and 348 especially as these cars age and parts are harder/more expensive to get...

Well I guess you are very, very concerned with getting the lowest price on a car.

    That's not my concern.

And the difference between my 99 355 and a 99 360 is what?? Other than the fact that a major costs a few grand less in a 360 every 5 years...

Mi concern is best car for best price. Not an inflated price from an owner in denial.

355 vs 360 ....few grand in maintainence( hummm more $$ in mi pocket speaks for itself) plus since I drive mi car about 7k miles yr HUGE plus .

2; more interior room huge plus for someone over 6 foot.

    Enough for me ...

So is a 355 so likewise. I'm only being realistic because realistically if the 355 was worth more the 348 would be worth more.

Few people are buying luxury item in todays economy so many of these cars sit for a long time unless price "stupid" low

Well, I bought my red 99 355 GTS 6 speed with 22k miles for 69k in Dec 09.

Didn't consider a 360 as I prefer the looks of a 355 and also the removable top.

Had major/manifolds/exhaust done in oct 09. Factory options are red calipers, shields, black interior w/red stitching, challenge grill.

Are their better deals out there for a well sorted car? Maybe, but I couldn't find one.

    OUCH!!!
OK, 28 months rather then 36 month old major, my bad all the way.
I've owned and traded cars like this for 25 years and noooo it's never been wrecked. Keep in mind its just a car, never fall in love with a car so bad that you'll make any excuse not to walk away from it.
