    Devils advocate here...

Can you post the parts diagrams via a server in The Bahamas, etc...and link to it? The porsche sites had to take the diagrams off, and link to the "official parts diagrams" on the porsche site - which are useless...

Porsche did this to me several times already, certified mail threatening lawsuit.

And all I did was provide free public domain on DIY articles and had few pictures of their posters and etc. I guess they didn't like the poster pictures and picture of their cars posted on a private web site.

    Good day,

This may be true, however, there are certainly more diplomatic and non aggressive ways for Ferrari Corporate to "protect" their name... For example, Ferrari lawyers could contact all those who they feel are in violation and assess them. Those that are deemed beneficial and harmless could be offered a contract/license so that they could continuing operating if they follow the contract/license rules/limitations.

Sadly, Ferrari corporate is obviously not interested in this (amiable resolution), as their motivation is clearly $$$$... as can be seen by the fact that they will license the Ferrari name to everything... next will be performance condoms I am sure ... What is also sad is that it has been blood and guts of the independents that have elevated Ferrari to the level it is... They were the ones that kept the cars running, determined superior replacements, modifications, etc when Ferrari corporate could care less...

Personally, I am thoroughly disgusted by Ferrari corporate. Given their demeanor, attitude, and bullying tactics, it would be a cold day in Hell before I would purchase any of their latest creations. Since a number of my friends ask my opinion on their car purchases, I will not and have not hesitated to steer (no pun intended) them away from Ferrari.

It is really a shame, as Ferrari corporate has really tarnished the Ferrari name all in the name of $$$. This is a dramatic contrast to when Enzo was alive, as under his watch the sole motivation was racing...

    Cheers,

    Sam

No question it's Spa. I just don't have a "Spa SUCKS" sign handy.

All the manufacturers do it if there is any value at all to their trademark.

Ferrari was most certainly doing it while Enzo was alive. So was and is every other car manufacturer. As far as selling rights to the logo they do it every day to companies that they feel either enhance the product image or their bank account without negative product image. That will cost you seven figures plus a healthy percentage of the gross on the product. Something tells me Daniel does not fit that profile.

This is no consolation but for the time being the very similar parts books at www.eurospares.co.uk remain up and running

Harley Davidson did this in the mid 90's. They went on a tear going after every independent shop in the country, the same shops that kept the brand alive when it should have probably died. Now Harley is headed back to the was it was in the early 60's to the mid 80's and the brand loyal (real hardcore bikers) are loving it. Will Ferrari end up the same way? There are allot of Boutique auto manufactures currently building cars with more to come. While they don't have the mystique of Ferrari don't under estimate the power of a well styled affordable performance car.

don't worry, there is probably someone in china or n. korea this very minute, planning to knock out a 1000 or so re-pop gto's. imagine that? trying to protect proprietary information and intellectual property in a place that does not acknowedge that such a thing exists....

Is the only option we all have collectively to quit buying any and all ferrari {cars, parts, apparel}?

I like Brian's FNA Sucks logo. perhaps everyone who supports Daniel and all of the mom and pop business's that have kept our cars going should adopt it for their avatar. How long before Rob has to change the name of this site or has a deal been made to protect it?

Doesn't it seem that we should wait and find out what's happening before "casting stones"?

In the current climate I'm not so sure if it will be too long. A friend (and FChat member) had to surrender his Ferrari fan/info site that contained the SF name. And HE was not making 1 cent from that site..

Of couse everyone should wait to see what the real situation is but the suggestion above would seem obvious. OF COURSE the foreign site would have NOTHING to do with anyone, Recambi included. Then anyone could just link to that foreign site. It does worry me that there are plenty of fan/owner web sites that have parts diagrams, factory technical bulletins (40 years old I might add), and where owners swap lots of service manual stuff etc. Now it would be sad if Ferrari Spa went after those guys. There is zero $ in that and in fact it costs the site owners $$$ to host the site but they do it because of the passion they have for the cars.

If Ferrari is attacking it's aftermarket suppliers they can say goodbye to many of their customers.

Many, many times Riacambi America kept my car on the road with parts that were sourced from Ferrari and expertise that I could not find anywhere else.

There are several other marques that could benefit from his companies resources.

I don't think Ferrari really gets it. If I am forced to buy all my parts from Ferrari, with their less than stellar pricing and their I don't give a s$it about you attitude, I will buy a Lambo just to thumb my nose at them. Where in the hell do they get off? They have done absolutely nothing to support us. They stop supplying parts as soon as a car's paint dries. I love my Ferrari, but I used to love BMW's too (though admittedly not nearly as much). BMW bent me over a few times and I wouldn't give them money now if they were holding my dog for ransom. Daniel--literally--saved my a$$ once when my car was stuck in the garage with a broken ignition. I will never forget it. You mess with him and you are really messing with all of us. I think we should go off line with this, find out what the hell is going on, and start a letter writing campaign to Ferrari NA, as well as pooling whatever brain trust we have in this community to help him out. Ferrari should be thanking him, not trying to hurt him.

FNA is doing this to everyone, I think the FCA is losing the right to use their current logo. Better buy up the old stock now as it will no longer be available soon. This may be a two year process or so, but it is happening to everyone, everywhere.

If anything, this situation points out and makes it all the more obvious just how important this community is.

The name of this forum can always be changed, but time and again it has been proven that this community sticks together and helps each other out.

And that's why I still have my 308 and not a Vette or something else. Without this forum, life with these cars would probably be far more difficult. Many of you bought cars which were "on the brink" and would have otherwise been scrapped, and with the support here brought them back to life and more. We love the brand and the product, despite how frustrating things can be at times. The community here makes the difficulties far more manageable and mitigates a lot of the risk associated with owning these cars.

All we can do is give this current situation time to flesh out, and give Daniel and each other continued support.

Not sure then if anything has really changed....
    Phil

P.S. We have engineers, lawyers, product managers, technicians and a host of other talented folks here.....we have guys here designing and fabricating repro parts.....if its just access to the diagrams, I'm sure we have the brain trust to devise a solution to that limitation.

In case there has been some confusion let me make a singular post here:

Ricambi America, remains 100% open and fully operational. We continue to sell new Genuine Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini parts. Our website remains open. Our phone lines remain open. Our web-chat remains open. We continue, and have continued to ship orders as normal. Our supply chain has not been interrupted. At no time, has any individual or organization threatened the business of Ricambi America. We are not under any sort of cease and desist with regard to our business operation. We have removed one component of our public website. Need help finding something? Call us. Need some technical assistance? Call us.

Suggestions of our impending demise, or innuendo by others that 'we're down', are false.

We are NOT down whatsoever. We have simply removed one aspect of our website.

Thanks for everyone's kind words of encouragement.
