Sorry to be out of touch for a while - been busy with other things.

I now have the second batch of lights on hand and they are looking good. The process is still a little tricky but I think my factory are getting the hang of it now and the quality is getting more consistent.

Anyway I want to confirm who's interested in purchasing from the forum here before I put them up for sale elsewhere. So far I had "I'm interested" pm's from:

    VW Porto
    Porphy
    gnasher328
    AP328
    Easyrider7467
    Jamtek
    EP75
    Mule
    qvee
    rocketv
    djh2627
    topher

I'll pm you all with the cost and shipping cost before you make a final committment but before then have I missed anyone? Sorry if I have but let me know and I'll send out the details via pm to you also.

I have about 18 pairs that are good to go so there are a few spares at the moment if anyone is interested.

Anyone need additional pics or more info please post or pm me.

I'll possibly post pics of the factory and the guys making these things in the next few days or so - makes for interesting viewing! I've also had a few thoughts on cleaner ways to remove the old lenses which I'll also put up when I have a little more time.

    Cheers and thanks

I'm not convinced that the part for the mondial is a different part completely as the differences seem to be in a few millimetres and it makes no sense even in FerrariWorld to make not only a different glass part but also the abs housing to carry the lights etc behind it.

Is anyone willing to check for me? I suggest I send out one of the "reject" pieces to one of you for comparison. I'll cover the cost of shipping if one of you Mt owners could take a careful look and double check my piece against your existing ones, note down/photograph any differences and report back. Anyone up for that?

    Thanks

    Mark,
Sorry for the late response. I'm sure my pieces will physically fit your car but like you I am not sure if the yellow is in the glass or in the reflector/bulb inside the housing. I would have thought the colour is in the reflector and bulb as these would have been cheaper to alter in the original manfacturing process.

Can anyone else confirm either way?

(Great looking car by the way Mark!)

    Cheers

    Hi Mark
I'm still interested. Can you supply individual sides? I need a R/H one, my L/H was replaced sometime ago after a 'mishap'. Interestingly it is clearer than the original and might also be a copy as the lines at the side are fainter.
    Tim.

For UK owners I have found a company who can do quite thick protective covering, @1.5mm thick. One product I looked at was only 0.2mm.

    Lamin-X.co.uk - Motorsport protection films.

    "Hi Tim,
We would be able to supply a 12"x8" at £11.99. So if you would like to double check the size just to be sure the 12" is enough and we can go from there."

    Hi Tim,
PM sent re the RHS lens you need.

I know for myself that putting the old lens against the new one there is a "clear" difference between the two. Mostly I think due ot the original having been sandblasted by road grit and grime for the last 20 odd years. The old one also looks yellow-ish compared the the new one. This is why I would really reccomend most of you buy a pair so they match. It sounds like at least one of yours has already been changed at some point.

    Cheers

I am still interested. I remain worried about the differences in the 328 vs Mondial T. I would be willing to compare for you if you are interested. I have a complete left hand light out of the car with a broken ( bulls eye ) lens. I can check it against that one.

    Hi Randall,
I'll send you a LHS lens today - it will be a "reject" ie although it may have some flaws it will be dimensionally correct and good enough for comparison. I'd appreciate it if you could check it carefully and take some pictures too so we can be sure they match.

    pm sent.......

    Many thanks

    Dear Mark,

I am on the lookout for it.

I would like to ad some additional information on these lenses which is confounding but may be of use to some of us. I am importing a US model Mondial T cab into Switzerland that I found in poor cosmetic shape but good mechanical shape in the US. I feared that I needed to replace the headlamps which is a common change necessary to get a US car through the mechanical inspection in Switzerland. This was not true; the lights were perfectly acceptable. However, to my surprise, the original fog light lenses on the US model have different lenses than the original European fog light that I just purchased from Ferrari Switzerland. According to an expert on homologation in Switzerland, these lenses are "runing lights" in the US and "fog lights" in Europe and that is the reason for the apparently different lens light diffusion configuration. I looked carefully at the two lenses and there are certainly different numbers and indications on the lenses even though they are original Carello in both cases. Also, based on just simple observation and comparing the two lenses, it is clear that the configuration of the light diffusion ridges are different in the two lenses. I will try to extract the information from both lenses in order to understand which lens you are duplicating.

Obviously any help or comments that I could get on this seemingly complicated situation would certainly be of great help. But it does support the position that Ferrari may make comlicated decisions concerning several different versions of the same part.

I look forward to someone blowing me out of the water on this.

    Patience, keep pushing.

    Randall

    Mark,

I just received my lenses too and they look like jewels. The glasswork is really first-rate, probably better than the original Carellos. Great packaging too.

As a side note, when in transit I received a call from the Fedex people about the 'contents' of the package for customs purposes. Tillman put me onto the right track (thanks) - an appropriate description to state is 'glass sculptures' which is definitely appropriate. Customs passed them through right away - hurray!. Hope this helps anyone getting these beauties through the system in the U.S.

    Thanks again Mark!

    Ciao,

    Vincent

I just got an announcement from [email protected]; company in California, I think. Try squadranuvolari.com.

I have tried to copy the jpg file below but I have not done this in Ferrarichat as yet. It may not work. In any case here it is.

I have now put an album on this site with pictures comparing the Euro light that I purchased recently with the original lens from my US mondial t. I still don't know how to include that album here.

    Mark,

I received the lens. Even though it's a reject I can tell it is good work. By eyeball only it looks the same as the Mondial T foglight. I will make accurate measurements and get back to you.

Have you removed the "Carello" mark on the ones you are selling?
