Today we we're driving, and my friend steps on clutch and there's this clunk sound. Clutch won't disengage when you step on pedal. Car limped home in 2nd gear (couldn't shift, it was about a mile drive)

I noticed a sligt squeak everytime I release the clutch, just abou at the grab
point last week. I'm thinking the throw out bearing went. Hopefully that's all It is. What are your thoughts?

Is hydraulic oil running out of the bellhousing?

Sounds like a failed TO bearing or guide sleeve.

I would think if it were a TO bearing, the clutch would still disengage, but be very noisy. Usually, a TO bearing gives some advance warning in the form of noise before going out. My bet is on a hydraulic failure which is more prone to happening all at once.

That is how the TO bearings fail. Common 355 problem

Pretty much how my TO bearing went. Push on the clutch and nothing happens and the pedal has little resistance. Hydraulic fluid on the ground. Replaced it will the Hill Engineering TO.

Believe it or not I had a 5spd chevy truck where the clutch disc actually broke on three of the four pieces of metal connecting the center to the outer edge where the clutch pads are. Sounds similar as I thought it was just something with the pedal or linkage. The Ferrari clutch disc shown on Ricambi looks better built but it can happen. (Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.)

We were on our way to a show when it happened. So we brought the car home left it, grabbed my dd and headed out to the show. I didn't feel the pedal yet but he said there was no resistance when pushed.

Gonna have the car towed to my garage and take the bellhousing apart and report my findings.

Hey John, good to see you at the show but my 355 was lonely! Hope you get running soon.

Rifledriver, was the TO bearing upgraded on later years or just on the F1? I recall reading that somewhere.

so a litle more info. got home, pressed pedal. theres no resistance. after pressing the pedal a few times, there was a puddle of hydraulic fluid coming out of the bell housing.

im assuming the its just he TO bearing thats gone. we were able to drive the car and the clutch was grabbing still with no slippage.
