Ferrari 355 F1 - Eu version - timing belts were changed before 5.000 km and 4 years.
    What your opinion?
It is necessary to change timing belts immediately or it is possible wait 1 season (fair risk)?

...... owners manual says .... every 50.000 km and not over 3 years.

Some may say you should do the service??? But I think you should be ok. How many miles do you plan on driving in the next year?? When I bought my car it had 3.5 years and only 500 miles on the major but I went another 8mo. and 5k miles before I did the service...:D

Many of us go up to 5 years between major services .... as long as the car wasn't tracked or done many miles.

My last major was at 55,000 km ..Oct 06. Now I am at 84,000 km and aiming to do major later part of this year.

I think if you runs your car often, it should be okay to push a little longer (belt doesnt sleep for too long) and also the weather would play part in their life span too.

    Good luck

This bulletin was announced well after the owner manual was printed, and therefore trumps the owner's manual recommendation

You pays your money and you takes your chances. I plan on the 4-5 mile program on my 348. Most owners can probably get away with every 5 yrs. But anything can happen. Majors to replace the belts also allow many other things to be inspected and serviced or replaced before other failures occur.

    Edit: meant 4-5 yrs.

+1. It is a crap shoot, and you take your chances. I did my last one at the 5 year interval....and next will likely be the same. I know personally, a guy that had one of the belts let go at right around the 7 year point on his F355. Ouch.

Ferrari did not choose the 3 year mark arbitrarily, so anything beyond that and the risk increases....you choose what you are comfortable with.
