I ordered one from Rutlands, I hope it will work.

If vaseline was a good idea, it would have been mentioned before....

My outside rubber wipers don't even touch the window except when it is fully or mostly raised, and I am not sure is contacts that well even then, so that isn't causing any drag on my windows.

I am surprised this stuff is not available. Mine is OK, but showing age and should be replaced due to some minor edge cracking and a small chip in one.

I will have to start looking at various auto side windows and see if anything looks similar.

With as many rubber extrusions out there for all sorts of reasons, something should be close

I am sure there must be something similar but I haven't found anything so far. Rutlands supposedly is having some made eventually.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I wouldn't use Vasoline, it would clog up the felt. I think if the channels are ligned properly so that the window can travel up and down freely, it should work fine.

The early cars did in fact use the "fuzzy strip on metal backing" on both inside and out...on the VERY early cars they even trimmed the fixed triangle glass with it! LOL!

That makes a really ugly job though.....

Only the later 308s (not sure when) changed to the more conventional 'rubber lip with chrome bead moulding"......

The early cars the chrome bead rivits on first, to the door or trim panel then the 'fuzzy strip rivets thru on top of that!

Well, my Sept '78 built car had the rubber with black chrome reveal molding. Or some sort of shiny black metal reveal molding.

Makes me wonder if Rutlands and Ferrparts are using the same supplier as Rutlands supposedly will get some as well....

I called them about a year ago and they didn't have much I have to say but I should try them again. Thanks!

Eulogio, thank you for the kind words and the links!

I dropped off the front grill at the anodizers and the windshield molding to be powder coated today, I just didnt want to deal with fading black anodize in a year so I decided to go with powdercoat, that way it will match all the other black trim on the car as well.
Also bought a bunch of screws for the carburetors with a small OD so that I can get a 12mm wrench on them instead of the 13, got them very nice and tight now. Finally found the right guy to install the windshield, he has done lots of 308's in the past and I think he is right for the job. It's amazing how difficult it is to get a specialist in exotics to come out to do the job, all those shops require the car to go to them.... looking forward to having a windshield!
