The other thing is he may have brought it in to the dealer to get some repairs quoted....and, well you know how that happens....

    Could need lots of work.

Sometimes a guy just wants to sell something quickly without haggling over a few bucks. Maybe this is the case here. If you're in the market and able to make a fast decision, that's how good deals are made. 50k isn't much mileage on a 348. Do the service that's probably due yourself? Screamin' deal! Demand perfection? Look elsewhere probably.

More than likely no paperwork, will need AT LEAST a timing belt change and tensioners so you can drive it without feeling like it's a time bomb. Also water pump, alternator should be checked/replaced if showing signs of 50K of wear. Clutch, flywheel and TO bearing too...could be ready for replacing. At $25K it's a good buy in price but better have about $10K more or risk having a parts car. Don't forget the tax too...mine was $1800 just for the state tax!! Then tags...and insurance. It turns into a money pit fast. 348's are great cars (I love mine) but don't be blind to reality. They can and will bite you sometimes.

If you lag behind on service and something major goes wrong as a result...it's not like fixing a Chevy. No way...no how...not even close ;-) You got a parts car until you shell out major bucks to get it going again.

It's all in what you want to go through. I dropped my car off for a major today and saw a 355 being gone over...someone got a steal on it WAAAAY less than I paid for my 348 but it needed all the typical stuff...I would not want that bill!!! I could not see the interior but judging the rest of the car...it was worn. That's another area that is NOT inexpensive to replace. Ferrari interiors!!! Jeeze...IF you can find anything decent...it's usually pricey.

oh yes, there is a lot to be gone through with this car in the way of inspection. you get what you pay for with ferrari and i'm sure there is something other than mileage dropping the price of this car.

It pretty safe to assume that he knows what it'll cost to fix everything, and by the time a buyer did all that, the total investment would be similar to its value.
The body damage alone will not be a cheap fix. The mileage doesn't scare me at all, mine had more miles than that when I got it. Its good that its a driver, it'll be FAR more reliable than any garage queen!!

here is what i know so far from the seller and descrip. car fax checks out.

Last major service and new clutch pak at 45,000 miles.Tubi exhaust, Bridgestone Potenza RE-01's. Have owned 9 years-bought at 11,000 miles. Conversion to 355 clutch. All service records. All mechanicals very well maintained, and up to date. Beautiful, fast, FUN car. Issues- needs new a/c compressor, and minor body damage on lower passenger side bottom rail, minor to medium wear on drivers seat bolster.

I put a new A/C compressor on my 348 when I first got it. It was $400 for a Sanden unit instead of the one from Maranello. The A/C still did not work great. Chased down a few gremlins and never really got it perfect. Otherwise my car was great! I sold it for $37,500 almost a year ago. I'd jump on this one if I was in the market. The Re-01's are awesome tires!

Depending on where this car is located in Cali, there are probably a few fchat brothers here who would be willing to put their eyes on it for you.

that's a great price. Even if you end up putting in another $10-12k.

50k miles is not so bad. One could argue that in order to have driven that many miles the car must have been running well. Good chance that the breakables have broken and are fixed.

My car has 54k miles and a 2 year old service. I'd be deeply disappointed if it would only catch $26k.

    Steve-

Do remember sorting out the A/C, bodywork on that "Minor" impact and the various stuff you need to fix that the seller never tells you- along with the $1800 Interrcity bill will put the real cost of this car in the low 30s, and there are LOTS of low to mid 30s 348s around.

If you want to check out a 355 F1 I'm two towns over- shoot me a PM.

Don´t worry about the mileage. I bought mine a year ago for $27K, sunk another 10K into a major, a/c repair, trans&diff inspection, new tires, a stebro exhaust and hyperflows. The car has 40K on the clock and has been 100% reliable since. If the carfax looks good, the guy has some records, and sounds legit.... I believe you´ll make a decent buy.
Wish I was in the USA at the moment.....I would go have a look at it for you.
