Hi. I just bought a 98' 355 with a tranny problem. I have the BEST Ferrari mechanic in PR and, possibly the US. The guy knows the whole car, includding its electrical system and ECU's like the palm of his hands. He tested the Power Unit and the six solenoids/valves and the actuator... all the mechanics are fine. The car flashes the N because of the "gearbox failure". He is still checking the electrical using the diagrams and testing all the sensors, potentiometers, etc. He checked the little board that controls the actuator and assures me that it's fine. Our last hope is to check the F1 ECU and the small ECU for the clutch engagement. Any one with this problem?? The only explanation is ECU failure, since all the relays/fuses are fine and all the wiring is fine also. It's really tricky. All comments/recommendatios are welcome.

Make sure your brake light is working and that all doors (including bonnet and boot) switches are closing, also make sure you can hear the pump running.

Hi there. Instead of remaining an anonymous poster, you might consider filling out your profile with at least your name and your location so folks will know who you are.

My car is sitting at Ferrari of Houston waiting to be diagnosed with the same symptoms...

They have had it for a week, but haven't even looked at it yet. Let's keep each other update to see who hears of the solution first.

Already checked for that. Everything closed, all brake lights working, doors closed... still car won't turn over. Looks to me the F1 ECU needs reprograming/software updates but i need the Sp3, SD3... or whatever it's called... the laptop that ferrari dealers use to perform every check/reprogramming on the car...

If the doors have to be closed, it means there are door switches to detect that the doors, etc. are closed or in their proper position, and these switches also can fail. I imagine your mechanic has verified these things, though. But just because the doors are closed doesn't mean everything's Ok.
