My opinion of Boulevard brewery has just changed...for the better. The Wheat Beer they're best known for is mediocre at best, but when they go old school they know how to get it done!

Smokestack Series "Dark Truth Stout" is some seriously good Belgian style brew. Barley, Wheat, Rye, and Oat malts, Noble Hops. Nice and rich but the hops 'n rye give it a more enjoyable bite than Guinness. I'd stack it up against Chimay's best any day. 9.7% ABV, bottled by the 5th with a champagne cork.
That was the "before dinner" brew I shared with my Son In Law yesterday.

After I carved the meat we opened the next one...
"Bourbon Barrel Quad". Medium Dark Malts, Fermented over Cherries, and aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels for a year. Reddish-Brown Ale with a ton of flavor. 11.8% ABV, and it's also bottled by the 5th...

Pain in the butt to find, but if you stumble into some jump on it. Too good to drink alone, but you should only share them with a really good friend.;)

Don't get me wrong, Sunset Wheat is a pretty enjoyable brew. But just take a whiff, smells just like the cereal.

Earlier this year I did a blind beer tasting for friends. I selected 8 beers ranging from VERY common to VERY rare and water to black colored, in other words a huge variety. Wish I could find the list and final results, but our local cheap yellow beer called Lone Star WON! Samuel Adams was a close second, but Peroni got LAST. Everyone there was experienced beer drinkers and we’ve done this a few times for wine. Guinness, Youngs Double Chocolate, and Miller all in the middle.

Heh, I'll have to try that.

We once did a Ghetto Wine and Beer/Malt Liquor night

Over a dozen people brought either a 40z Beer/Malt or a bottle of dirt cheap wine and we did taste tests on them. Appearance, Aroma, Taste and Overall. The comment cards were hilarious! One of the most fun (and perilous) nights of my life.

    yeah, it kinda does....

Peroni is crap. I find it amazing that everyone blasts the watered-down American lagers but somehow the watered-down European lagers are supposedly good (Heineken, Stella, Peroni, etc).

Since you brought up Leinie's.... Has anyone else tried the "1888 Bock" on for size?
Sampled some last weekend and it was pretty nice. Had a good bite to it.

As for Heinie... I'm still trying to figure out the appeal. It might be great in Europe, but the junky skunky version we get in the US is pretty low rent if you ask me. I tried a bottle of their Dark brew last year in hopes of something better. All I learned is that brown skunks and yellow skunks have a lot in common.

    LOL Busch reminds me...

In college, road trip, on the way to Vegas. Me reclined sleeping in the passenger seat with ~20 Busch empties all around. As they emptied I just dropped them until I took my nap. A trooper work me up baning on the window! Apparently we got pulled over while I was napping but instead of going to the drivers window he came to mine and tapped on it. I put seat up as cans are clinking and falling all over floor I think for sure we're screwed. He shines his flashlight in the car and asks "Where you boys off to?"

    Me: "Vegas"

"You boys know who pays for all the fancy lights in Vegas? You do. Just remember that. Have a great time. And be safe."

He shines his light around a bit more and that was it! My friend who was driving couldn't believe it either.

Yay Busch! Saved the day! :) :)

    That's funny.

Peroni is so horrible. I'd rather drink Busch.;)

You know what's slightly worse, I saw someone with a case of Milwaukees Best. Now that's disgusting.

Milwaukee's Best is Miller, I think and Old Milwaukee is Pabst. Again, I think.

You guys can hate on Busch Light but if you're sitting around for 6 hours drinking with friends the 30 beers go down quick, relatively smooth and tasteless. Plus my body's been processing it for so long I find it impossible to wake up with a hangover of any kind.
But I don't touch Bud Light/Miller Light/Coors Light/ any other crappy light, except Yeungling Light if I can get it

Hard to get a hangover from desalinized Soda Water with a teaspoon of beer flavoring isn't it;)

I dis on Busch (not light), but I drink it when I'm mowing the grass. Cheap thirst quencher but not good for much else. There is only ONE light beer that I'll drink on purpose. Sam Adams Light. It's the only one I've ever tried that tasted like real beer:)

No idea. lol Just know I don't like it.

I'm glad to see Saint Arnold cracked the top 50. Although I'm not a huge fan of theirs.

Hard for to pick a Top 5, but a few I like and buy regularly would be

    1. Sierra Nevada
    2. Dogfish Head
    3. Victory

I can only name 3 that tend to be what I regular look to see what Spec's has available.
