oh snap, that blows. you must be livid.

it looks like it's down to the primer in a few places, most likely you'll need to have that area resprayed. sorry :(

did you get a police report/file an insurance claim yet?

Was it in a parking garage, maybe some surveillance cameras around caught these asshats. Sorry this happened :(

I had this happen on a new BMW. I feel your pain. This is not fatal. Get it fixed and move on. All will be well (even though I empathize with your current situation).

Trust me. This will pass. ;)

    andrew,

i am very sorry for your incident. there are times when i really am saddend at the thought that it gets harder and harder to enjoy nice cars w/o fear of having incidents like yours occur.

it does look quite deep so it will be off to a good paint shop. be sure to ask how they will handle the disassembly, edge feathering, and color match as it appears to be a metalic.

Sorry to hear. It definitely looks like it was keyed. Too squiggly and long to be caused by another car.

This happened to my car a couple of times last year so I know how you feel. The worst part is that, unless there was a camera there, there's nothing you can do but have it repainted and try to forget about it. My car was keyed several times outside my own home. I have since become very cautious about where I park. If possible, try to find a parking space in work that is monitored by a camera and park there in future.

That's a respray for sure. Be thankful they didn't key the whole side of your car. The door can be removed and sprayed by itself.

    What he said.

What possesses some idiots to damage a stranger's nice car is beyond me...

On the positive side, the car is newer so you probably have no paint fade -- should be a good color match. Life goes on.

I was in the RAF Lakenheath officer's club one night. When we got back to my 308 GTS, someone had scratched a swastika on the engine cover. Makes you wonder, no?

    Cover had to be repainted.

I have an idea of who it was...If there are cameras around, how can i view them? Do i have to call the cops?

    Andrew......

The whole side of your car will have to be blended, and then clear coated, in order to correctly match the door.

Yep.......Porsche primer is white.......and you're deep in the primer on this.

$3K +..........to do it right..........you have no idea how many cars I see with only the doors or one fender that are done, and the OEM paint left untouched on the rest of the body.......it sticks out like a sore thumb.......especially on metallic paint or cars exposed to harsh sunlight.

    Don't settle for less.

Of course the best solution is a quality repaint but that will cost quite a bit and your car will be gone for a while.

I've had some success with a spot repair using touchup paint. Look around, there might be a detailing guy near you that can get this done without spending a fortune. If it's only paint that was damaged (no dent) it might work.

    sounds like beatin' time. ;)

but seriously, that makes a police report more necessary, if you think someone could potentially get charged for this.

That absolutely sickens me to even see..... Absolutely file a police report and get that security video immediately. A lot of security video systems are set up to record over previous recordings if nothing happens. Some record right away and some don't ever record over. Make sure you tell whoever maintains it to save the date this happened though (do this immediately). If you have suspects, tell the officer taking the report about that and make sure the officer knows there is security footage that may help. Also, this will not be cheap to fix, so your insurance will probably want a police report anyway. Good luck and if I can help, let me know.

Wow, sorry to see what happened to your car. Its a shame that no one ever witnesses these creeps in action. I've had radios stolen, and years ago I had a 944 Porsche backed into twice, once the nose was damaged, and the second time someone did a 3 point turn and backed into the driver's door pushing it inward and leaving paint all over it...but again there were no witnesses. I feel your pain. Hopefully, the jerk that keyed your car will get caught one of these days.

    Best regards,
    Dino

The rule of thumb with scratches is:

IF you can 'feel' it with your fingernail then it has to be painted, I can tell from those pics that it needs to be painted.

I disagree about having to paint the entire side though, a GOOD painter should be able to blend it in with sunlight fade,wear/tear etc., factored in to his job.
