bbc download. walk me thru this. onto computer? so, i'm watching a 2 hr race on a computer? does not sound comfortable. anyway to get bbc feed on tv? bbc america? what about watching the world feed on speed and listening to bbc commentary? links? tia ed
OK - I'll have a go at "explaining" what's going on.... Firstly, where are you? - I'll guess the good ol' US of A (Actually, anywhere outside of the UK for the BBC coverage) - If that's the case, you need to "fool" the BBC servers into believing you're actually in the UK (their feed is UK only) - You can do this via the recommended VPN solution desscribed in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277071 This will allow you to stream the live feed as their servers now believe you're in the UK. They then have their own player, which you can now download and install to your 'puter. This allows you to download the whole thing for viewing at your leisure (I believe the download will vaporize after ~2 weeks though.) As to getting it onto a TV - That depends on what A/V in/outputs are available - Both on your 'puter and the TV - There are multiple ways of doing it, but the details will vary based on what you've got. HTH, cheers, Ian
I agree with quote #2, I have ATT UVerse, just DVR it and watch it when I wake up. Also have been DVR'ing Indy cars, which I've been getting into again. All kinds of angles, clear radio transmissions and best of all, drivers that actually don't mind interviews, profiles, etc.
And can someone tell me how the Versus channel has Indy cars in HD and Speed TV still has no HD for F1? No exuse.
exactly ... even frickin AMA is in HD. the difference is that vs and speed produce those shows themselves. FOM has to provide a "world feed" to many broadcasters, and don't forget Japan or someone does their own separate deal, so it's got to be quite a bit more expensive for them. Perhaps .eu HD penetration isn't quite the same as the US?
No, Speed just sucks full stop. I don't know of any place that gets F1 in HD except the track the GP is being held at.
What does this even mean? Are you still running DOS 6.1? Computers have been running 720p res since Windows 95. F1 doesn't broadcast in HD outside of the track. This was suppose to change this year but apparently they want all the cars to run HD on board cameras before they start showing it in HD, well that's Bernies excuse anyway. We might get HD races in 2011. If you get the stream off the BBC website you would get it in the same resolution as you would on TV.
On Cox digital cable in Rhode Island, SPEEDHD is channel 731 and they broadcast the races in HD. I suppose it could be some sort of up-convert but from my perspective I am looking at a 1080i display during race time.
"computers" have been running much higher resolutions than that for even longer than that, what's your point? obviously i mean that internet streams are low bandwidth affairs. I watch SPEED in 1080i. You're telling me the BBC stream is at 1080 resolution? that seems pretty unlikely. i will check it out though.
This is incorrect. They do NOT broadcast F1 in HD as the world feed has never been in HD. Speed is 100% unwatchable. After having a taste of the BBC's coverage (complete with features, interviews, Coulthard vs. Eddie Jordan, pre and post race coverage, etc.), I will never watch F1 on SpeedTV again. And they wonder why F1 isn't popular here?! To download BBC coverage I use torrents, a file-sharing system often used for more dubious downloading of copyrighted material. Download a free software program such as "Vuze", search "F1" + the GP and download. Since I use AppleTV, I can watch it on my TV immediately (or throw qualifying on my iPhone to catch a feature on a flight). It's simple. Try it.
I do the same except, I use a Sony PS3 to stream from my computer to my TV. I will never again watch a Formula One race on Speed.
