My sister in law grew up in County Kildare; says she never had Corned Beef and Cabbage until she came to America. Can any Irish here confirm the American angle of this dish?

I'm sure we are all well aware that corned beef and cabbage is an American staple. Has nothing to do with St. Patrick's or Ireland as it was very expensive and beef isn't exactly the national foodstuffs of Ireland.

The day I eat CBaC is usually the best day of the year for me :)
