It's curious about the that rear side marker light. I can't believe it has to be that high up. But the rest of the car looks very nice so a gun must have been held to the owners head by the Mexican DOT equivalent?

In the other photo you can see the red horn hose behind the grill. On my car the entire hose plus the horns and other stuff were slathered quite sloppily with flat black paint. I used to think it was another "dumb owner thing" but I've seen period pictures of other Espadas that received the same treatment. I guess Lamborghini wanted to hide any visual distractions in a front view of the car. It was kind of a poor way to accomplish that.

About the leather perfs. What do older MB owners do for all the perfs in their leather? That might lead to something good.

If you'd asked about the trim on the door last week I could have taken another photo when I was at my garage. I'll try to remember the next time I go out there. Come on Gary you have to coordinate you questions better than this! ;>)) I'll look for a photo as well.

Well admitting you have a problem is the first step towards redemption. Possibly, you may have caught this in time. But if you've been reading this thread for a while and still haven't pulled away then ...

Welcome aboard. Ownership can be a bit like an episode from the Twilight Zone.

    Bob,

I've seen US side markers in this "upper position" on several other Espadas.

I kind of agree with you about the red horns, mine were painted black from factory, I prefer better them in red., matches my interior! :)

Mine had black horns none the less. But they also got glopped with that flat paint as well.
Someone at lamborghini had an odd way of dealing with this.

Not to get too far adrift, but I need some input. I'm removing the steering wheel from my S1 Espada to refinish it and I'm stuck (literally). I have the hub and retaining nut removed, and have made up a puller using a piece of 1/4" plate stock. I have two M8 1.25 bolts threaded into the removal holes in the steering wheel and a third bolt pushing against the shaft to pull the wheel away. It won't budge. I suspect that decades of turning have wedged the thing tight. Is the shaft base tapered like that on an Alfa? I tried the old Alfa trick of giving the center bolt a shot with a hammer and center punch, but to no avail. I'm reluctant to bang around on the steering column or potentially bugger-up the wheel. I'm tempted to try putting dry ice on the center shaft and warming the steering wheel hub with a hair dryer to see if that pops them apart. I'm I possibly missing something obvious? Hopefully one of you guys has done this before. Thanks for any tips.

I'd agree with Gary Daryl. I've been following VLG for about 4 years and while I do remember this topic being covered I don't know if anyone had quite this much trouble.
As you may know the search engine on Yahoo doersn't work properly for anything about 1.5 years or newer. But I think you'll still find this covered farther back than that. Also check the VLG archives and of course ask a current question. I know of at least a couple guys including Jack? that had their steering wheels refinished in the last 2 or 3 years. So they must know the drill.

I like the dry ice and hair dryer idea. It sounds so exotic ... Good luck.

My suggestions is to buy, rent or borrow a puller of appropriate design. Your flat, threaded 1/4 plate is not going to transmit the pull you need. You will simply damage the steering shaft threads and bend/flex the 1/4 plate puller.
You need a puller with 1-2" of threaded center with greased (not oiled) threads and combine with grade 10 8x1,25 bolts. Torque it up, give it a rap with a 2lb hand sledge.

I know this dosen't address the preceding post, but does anyone know what happened to the Espada (1971 or 1972 model) I saw at Herson's auto dealership in Rockville, MD in early 1972? It was white with a black interior.

Subject: Re: need info on Bruno Paratelli

    Dear Jim, dear Gary,
correct, we still can supply original holes on every part of the Espada

the entire quantity to Gary, depending on what Gary wants to do.
We need vin no of the car, we are prepared to do everything you need.
    All the best.
Valentino, on behalf of Bruno P."

    Grand Theft !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Timing is everything and my time was up to keep the Espada. I am very dissapointed, but I know the new owner will be very happy. Everyone had an opportunity to get this car, and I know some will kick themselves for not having done so. This was the Best Buy in quite some time! This is a very special Espada and I had planned to keep it. "OK here it goes"................. $40,000.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You made a Great Buy Sir !!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi David,

That was a year ago. "I blew it". No other explanation. I obviously regret it.

    Are F-ing kidding me?!
I would have considered that. But when I looked at the "buy it now" price and then you have the best offer.......one would assume you are looking in that range.
I would have thought I was offending you with 40k.

I'll continue keeping an eye out for a series one.

    Hi all,

I've discovered that my brake master cylinder, located under the dash, is slowly leaking when I press the pedal. I need to buy a cylinder repair kit. I assume it might be a Girling part but I've heard that Dunlop or Bonaldi cylinder might be possible... Does anybody by chance have dismantled that part and have the casting number from the cylinder, so I can buy the right kit ?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Are you serious, sold for $40K? It's more than a theft, almost a crime, you should have kept that beautifull Espada. :(
