Bloodly 'ell, right you are. Never seen that before. Some minor details look different too (compared to mine).
Something is suspect... eBay pic is first, actual Tubi for 355 (2.7 & 5.2 / 94-99) shown second. The eBay one looks like an amputee! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Strangely enough, the original muffler that came with my US spec. car (with the car but not installed) has no provision for the exhaust bypass valve thermocouple. I seem to recall seeing a photo of a non-US market but original 355 muffler and it had the bung for the thermocouple but was simply sealed with a cap nut since they don't use the third thermocouple. Maybe just some production change along the way.... I can't really see the ebay photos well enough to notice any signs of welding. If you mean the discoloration in the middle of the muffler I think that's just from higher heat in that area. I believe mine looked the same. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks. Wonder where the previous owner got the OEM muffler he gave to me (along with the 5.2 I bought from him). I had assumed he had the new Tubi installed (and the O.E. muffler removed).
Seller gave me this reply when I asked about the "missing" 3rd exhaust input pipe: "Hi, It is a tuby exhaust for competition only. ...."
Mine says Competition Only (Only Competition, actually) and has all three input pipes. Even the Challenge cars used the Y-pipe. Something's not right here.... Seems like some kind of repair/modification, as mentioned previously.
