    My Mangusta's jack is unfortunately missing and I would like to replace it. Modena cars being what they are; assemblies from common suppliers. Would anyone on this forum familiar with the following piece.
    Thanks

    I can say that my Mangusta experience has been fantastic. It has been nerve racking to learn to drive this car. The clutch is really stiff. I still would not go racing or do stupid things with it. As a fellow DeTomaso owner once said: I can probably drive faster, with my late model SUV but never have the fun that I do in THIS car (rough translation). negative point is the rear view, back glass is at such a steep angle and creates reflexions, my mirrors were instaled (probably in the 70s) way too forward and are almost useless. But who looks in the mirror, you just want to see where your going.

    It is a tight car, you sit very close to the windshield, I'm 5'10'' , just the right size for me, you have find a spot for your left foot on long trips. You sit on an angle, but forget it after a few drives. There is enough glass that is it very bright. It's more comfortable than you would expect, 2 hour drive (that has been my longest non-stop trip) and you are not cramped. The funny thing to get used to is finding a 'graceful' way to ingress and egress the cabin. Easy to work on the car, I have changed the clutch myself and was surprised at the simplicity. Performs very well, I guess the 5 speed trans helps, narrow gate is very smooth (a 5.0 tremec it ain't) but a grand touring car for sure.

    Biggest thrills has been doing the Italian car parade (sorry the F-cars were only static), 3 superstars in the whole 50-75 cars, a Mangusta, a Pantera and a Countach. Going thru the underpass in 1st gear at 4000RPM was a hellish sound, the original ANSA mufflers are almost musical. And cruising to the Marina on Pantera weekend in Kingston (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XCQ2OQmhg0)

    After writing a bit about the Mangusta here:

    http://honeyisfunny.blogspot.com

    and moaning that I'd never seen one in the flesh, there was a glorious metallic green Goose (with Italian registration I think) at the Auto Italia show at Brooklands in the UK on Saturday. Here's someone else's pics:

    Parked up next to a beautiful gold Iso and about 6 feet from a Miura SV. The new 458 Italia was making it's UK debut a few feet in the other direction but no one seemed to notice... ;)

    If any Mangusta enthusiasts plan to be in Milwaukee on August 22nd, try to stop by the Masterpiece Concours on the lakefront. My Mangusta will be shown in the Italian/American Hybrid class. Stop by and say hello.

    I noticed you entered it. This is a really nice event. I have a feeling your car will have alot of rare Ferrari's and Alfa's to keep it company.

    Mang,
    the snow has melted, the salt has been swept from the roads...it's high time you fitted the gold, OEM Mangusta wheels to your splendid car and regaled us with some photos of same.

    Greetings, fellow Mangusta enthusiasts.
    Herewith, I pose a question which may elicit heated debate:
    It's a given that we all think DeTomaso/Giugiaro's Mangusta is a rolling work of art;
    It's also a given that the Mangusta was prematurely "hatched", and that much development of same was left to the first owners;
    Begs the question: why hasn't anyone taken molds of the Mangusta's body panels and created a contemporary, fiberglass-bodied Mangusta, based upon a chassis/suspension which doesn't suffer from the deficiencies/flaws of the original?
    As I titled this missive: Anathema!
    Just trying to keep this moribund thread alive...
