Hope you Brentwood boys are alright! How bad is it out there? I'm on the east side of town (100 yards from the lake...it's been a little jittery out here) and have been hearing all day that Brentwood got hit the hardest. Heard a water main was broken, too. No one's house/garage got flooded, I hope... How's everyone else holding up?
I'd say Franklin is worse than Brentwood. And if the river rises much more, there is going to be major carnage downtown. I got out earlier this morning, and while I did see some major runoff, I didn't encounter anything like I've seen on TV and online like what is going on up on Harding Road, and in the Bell Meade area.
It looks rough on TV. Hope everyone is safe. My Sister lives off of Concorde rd in Frankllin and they have water coming into their finished basement and have no water due to the water main problem. Question, since not many in TN usually has Flood insurance what will happen.. I remember Hurricane Katrina that insurance companies tried to get out of claims there.
Just read about the river...jeez. It's expected to crest only seven feet below the level required to flood First Avenue... We had this only a hundred or so yards from our house...and I've got a friend off of Woodmont whose basement had a bad day...along with all the music equipment in it, too. My brother just went to help out at the Red Cross at First Baptist in Hendersonville... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hope everyone is dry...lots of saturation in Brentwood and some crazy flood scenes...we are dry thankfully with no damage. Wishing everyone a safe transit through the weather...hoping the worst is behind.
Friend of a friend, Mark Tucker, shot downtown earlier today... Hi-res can be found here, on his blog... http://marktucker.wordpress.com/2010/05/02/pat-robertson/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The east and west were hit hard too. My boss' mother was rescued by boat when her condo flooded. Today I've been digging trenches to help flow the water around a neighbors house. I live in Lebanon and the town square is flooded here. See pic below http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=12412562 and video of a building floating down I24 then getting ripped apart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5gYhLKwSp4&feature=player_embedded Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah Jerry I think I moved just in time. Here are some pictures a friend sent me from Smyrna. Note to everyone don't buy any low mileage used cars from Middle Tennessee anytime soon. Cumberland has crested...this is nuts. So amazing, yet so saddening. Pics from Mark Tucker's blog again... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you seen pics of Oprymills? It's flooded as well, probably 6' of water at least. Maybe they'll have to tear it down and build an amusement park there... At least Nashville would get something good out of this tragedy.
We just got our power back after 55 hours out. There were 20 power lines reported down in Davidson County. I think 8 of them were going up the hill to our house! No water damage, fortunately. House did not slide down the hill...
I had my first look around town today, going to Crawford's house to pick up their Karman Ghia they so graciously offered me. My truck was hit by a falling tree Saturday afternnon as I was going down a side road by my house. The golf course in Old Hickory, on the banks of the Cumberland, is completely submerged. Saw a few very nice homes on the east side of the river, where Old Hickory Blvd crosses it, were still mostly submerged. A lot of people in my neighborhood airing out their basements, I think they were the lucky ones. What a mess! Hope everyone is safe here, best wishes to all.
Ya, Opry Mills is done. So is the Grand Ole Opry...which is more saddening to me... I heard late summer before any of it potentially reopens... Gary--sorry about the truck man... Fortunately the tree didn't fall on you in the truck... Crawford--glad the house is still perched precariously on that hill... I have a buddy with the same power situation... I just got back from Bellevue, as there were several families from my church hit hard out there. The scene was the same throughout the entire subdivision--people's houses were literally emptied into their front yards, and the first four to six feet of drywall and insulation were being ripped out, room by room. Glad to hear that everyone on here is doing well despite everything, though!
Some video from the house on Sunday. Listen for the beeping of the alarm system. The house looses power twice during the 40 seconds of video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMqykEUMKXI
Well, that depends on how you look at it. Gary was going 40 mph when it hit him! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Your ten mile view out of those windows was reduced to about ten feet... Glad that tree didn't do more damage to Gary's truck...that's gotta be pretty scary.
That storm footage is awesome. That was one powerful event. My ol' truck's pretty tore up Matt, the good thing is that I'm fine. I'll tell ya, driving along and having a tree come down on your vehicle, while it's moving, is a pretty big shock!
Wishing you guys all the best. We are in cleanup stage here in Jackson, but at least it is drying out. Amazing how badly the roads were damaged. We registered 16+" out at the weather station at work on that day. never seen anything like this in my life. We got hit pretty hard here in Jackson, but it looks like you guys in Nashville area got hit even harder. Be safe and well. Shane
We made it thru relatively unscathed.. unfortunately my two largest clients (The Grand Ole Opry) are under water. I'm afraid to see what my loss is truly going to be... that being said, who needs a video?!?!?!?!
Their website indicates closings for the flood in general, but they do not seem to be directly related to damage of their facility. There's a notice that says something to the effect of, "Check back for updates on tomorrow's schedule...," etc. I don't think that side of town was hit very hard. If I remember correctly, it's elevated significantly in relation to the river...
