i have a 360 coupe that i dont drive much. i commute in a 996 carrera 2. i have been thinking about selling both and replacing them with one car, a 997 gt3 or gt3 rs.

i cant commute in the 360, due to political reasons at work (no way i can show up in a ferrari in this economy).

i have test driven the gt3 and loved it, but it was a short test drive. it did seem kind if harsh. my commute is 30 miles during rush hour, about 20 miles are highway.

i dunno. i feel bad, my 360 just sits so much. i think i could have more fun with the gt3 as i could drive it more. and my coworkers would think its just a newer version of my car now.

    anyways, here's my ad:

    I feel you buddy!
If you get the gt3 you will miss the Ferrari and sooner that you think you will be driving a 430. Something that will hurt is that one of your co-worker buy a Ferrari and park it side vy side at your Porsche and the girls & guys only talk about the red thing!

I own a 360 Challenge Stradale and a 997 GT3 MKII. The 360 would actually be the better commuter car. The GT3 is harsh. Awesome car on the track and you can order all of the street goodies like lift kit and NAV, but the suspension will still rattle your teeth on bumpy roads. The 360 also has a bit more shoulder and hip room. The GT3 is really a track car slightly detuned for the street. It functions OK as a street car, but IMHO not for everyday use. Forget the GT3 RS. It's awesome, but it will give an even harsher ride on the street. Too bad you couldn't just explain to people at work that 360 Ferrari's are now in Porsche territory from a value standpoint. But I do understand completely. I've had my GT3 at work a few times, but never my Stradale.

I think you should just keep the 360 and drive it more. I personally would rather have the 360 over the 997 GT3. It is a much more beautiful car and perhaps more fun to drive (debatable). If you absolute must, maybe consider GT-R or new AMV8.

Only car I would be willing to get rid of 360 for is another Ferrari.

I drive both most of the time...

997 GT3 is faster, smoother, more daily freindly...My 360 rides harder, shifts harder. The GT3 does it all so well....The average person will not even look twice at the GT3.. but The people that do notice you are the GT3 guys, they are Porsche nuts, educated, they know the car and apreciate it. The F car junkies are nuts... They will drive you up a wall if you drive the 360 daily, pictures, questions, yelling at you, cutting you off... How much did it cost... Gets old fast.

360 is a supermodel that needs it attention. Driving it every day weakens the exerience.

Get the GT3. Drive it every day. You will still enjoy the 360.

How much seat time have you had in a GT3.... For pure enjoyment for the $$ it is second to none...
You can hammer it in every gear, stops so fast you phone will hit the dash... Shuts off and is ready to do it agian. One service every 30K or so, cost you maybe a grand...
GT-R is stupid fast but has no feel... From an F car guy it seems you would appreciate the feel of the GT3... Unless you have never felt one.

Go feel one again. The 360 is special but in a different class. GT3 is as good as it gets for driving fast on the street... Next level...430 or Scud...I want one.

I had a 996 GT3. They numbed down the 997 GT3 quite a bit, as a result of new owners returning them, which led me to buying my first Ferrari. The two purest cars I've ever driven are my GT3 and the CS. In four years of owning a GT3, it was rock solid, never needing anything above the scheduled maintenance.
I used my GT3 as a daily. However, there are places you can just jump in the Porsche and go, whereas the Ferrari, you have to plan your trip better.

Either way you can't go wrong!!!!

    Good luck!!!

Why not just tell the co-workers its a Fiero kit-car ;) majority of people have no idea what is authentic Ferrari anyways ;) Plus its always fun to hear the one "know-it-all" say to their co-workers - "SEE I TOLD YOU SO, I KNEW IT WAS A KIT CAR!!!" ;)

I do this alot at gas pumps, its more fun to see expression & reaction when you tell them its just a kit-car built on a fiero chassis...

stick a Pontiac emblem somewhere in the interior when its parked...

Ok, next issue you need solved?

No Offense but I disagree. I own a 997 GT3 and don't feel that it is any stiffer than the CS I have ridden in. In fact it is the perfect dual purpose car. It is reliable, not attention grabbing, has plenty of room and the visibility is great. The Nav works fine. IMHO it is far superior to a CS for daily use.

I had a 997 GT3 and a Scud. When I got the Scud, the GT3 remained my daily driver, but never saw the back roads for a while. After about 8 months with the Scud, I pulled the GT3 back out in the twisties, and I fell in love with it all over again. The Scud is more comfortable and easier to drive. It's faster, it's a more developed car, but there's something about the GT3 that still calls to me. It's a harsh ride, but it's very rewarding if you're willing to go out and drive it as it was meant to be driven. It certainly doesn't attract as much attention as the Scud, and it is much easier to navigate around town.

The GT3, despite is discomfort and harsh ride relative to the Scud, is much easier to live with daily than the Ferrari.

To each his own, this is just my opinion.

wow, this thread is more polarizing than i thought it was gonna be.

well, first things first, if i sell the 360, i dont think it will be my last ferrari.

i know the gt3 will be harsh, but whenever i get sick of it and want to drive somthing more comfortable to work, i got some regular cars i can drive.

it's just that, i find the porsches i own to be worry, free. i dont mind driving them on errands or to work etc...it's not a money thing obviously (as a gt3 or rs is worth more than my 360), but as they attract so little attention, i just feel better i guess.

then when the weekend comes around and i want to drive something crazier, i often pass on the 360 and just drive my murcielago.

seriously, my 360 has gotten out twice since the winter!

The GT3 is set up and sold as THE track car for intermediate drivers. It's not a great street car. Taking a bath to ditch the 360 and a comfortable 996 may be too much to ask for if you aren't a big track guy. big time performance increase over a 360 though.

I've used a 2003 996 GT3 as a daily driver for a year and it's rough ride. Very low to the ground so you will definitely scrape the front bumper on speed bumps and uneven roads. I've hit it hard a couple of times and the bottom plastic strip came loose a few times. Must be even worse on the GT3RS.

the GT3 is an awesome car but is very harsh to drive - probably not for a real driver (like men) but for my wife she just absolutely hated sitting and driving in the GT3 - she loves the 360 and actually looks forward to the weekends when we typically use it but when I go to take out the GT3 she basically says....forget it..i am not going....
