Just FYI, no sunroof on the 2nd gen GT3 beginning in 2010...like mine. It's a better handling, faster car than the 996 version, though to be sure lost some primitiveness in the making.

I am not going to argue the point as to me the 1973 Carrera RS is a better car then both of these, and it is not as fast - or able to handle as well, but the '73 Carrera RS is still a better car and that is not lost on me.

But to your point I must say that if your a numbers man then you should take a closer look. The 7 GT3 does post more power, but yet any current magazine test shows it only equals the 6 GT3's tested in 2004 (2004 M/T 12.07 @ 116MPH - 2010 C&D 12.1 @118). What you may be missing is that the 7 version two you plan to pilot is just plain easier to drive fast. And for you I guess you see that as a positive. Perhaps it is positive, just not to me. Plus I have not found a 7 GT3 that has outpaced me yet.

But please, you enjoy yours and I will enjoy mine (but the '73 RS is still a better car).

    just traded my '06 997 C2s for a twin of Todd's....'04 996 GT3, 3700 miles, CPO through 5/12.

initial impressions: WOW! so much more direct, jumpy, darty than a 997. I can definitely feel the ~250 pound weight reduction; no traction or stability control will keep me on my toes. the car is very intense!

lack of a sunroof and crap 996 interior are somehow both drawbacks, yet consistent with the character of the car. this ain't no boulevard cruiser!

    here's a few pics.

Nice! If I didn't already have one, I'd be very jealous!

I'm in my garage this weekend trying to install fabspeed straight pipes, so far it's been ok, still have to get those damn mufflers out.

    Todd,

Congratulations! Wonderful, purpose built Porsche. And stunning in silver. I'll second what Rob said, they look fantastic on the road.

    +1...seats (that can take a 4-point harness) and a cage....that's how you do a GT3 :)

Certainly good loud, but could be embarrassing to pull it up in front of some folks that don't understand and appreciate that kind of stuff.

I would imagine long trips it could get tiring. I'll try to post some video, but you'll gave to give me time on that one.
