Just upgrade to an aftermarket, can get a nice amp installed for less than $1000. I've got a stereo guy that does great stuff. Might be the easy fix.

Would it be able to go in the factory location? I took it to an audio guy but he couldn't find a amp to fit in the little pocket under the dash.

Go to a new shop :)

The ARC Audio Mini series http://www.arcaudio.com/productdescription_pages/amplifiers/ks-series/ks-125.2-mini.asp

Off the top of my head these should fit.

If not you can fabricate a metal mounting plate that attaches to OE mounting point and the any of the Alpine PDX amps or JL XD/HD amps will fit above the battery in the passenger footwell.

    Where are you located?
