A friend of mine is looking a EURO 00 or 01 360 Modena at a dealer auction but is unsure of the year. Is there a way to tell the year from the vin #? It's not like the US cars that will have a production date wright on the vin plate. Thanks

EU cars do not use a VIN that has a model year identifier.

Brian is correct, there is no way to identify the model year through a European VIN. But if you tell us the serial number, we'll be able to tell you the model year.

The assembly number will give you an idea, albeit vaguer than the serial number. If you can check the warranty card in the books, that will tell you the model year. But if the car is here in the states and has been properly converted, then the build date should be on the importer sticker.

    The import sticker shows
"this vehicle meets model year 2000 standards"
So I guess it is a 2000 as that is the only date on the import sticker.

What a great resource to post. I used to be so good with VINs. I could tell you model, year, and variants on any Bentley and Lamborghini. Like the old adage says, if you don't use it, you lose it...

Hey, Paul... Either it's a '99 or a 2000, depending on the last three digits.

It's a 2000, built in the summer of that year.

I don't know anything about this car. Is it in the states? Do you know anything else about it? Colors, mileage, location, etc.?
