One would hope that the backmarkers go out, make a couple runs for position at the bottom of the grid, go back into their garages and call it over for the day. Then the major players come out without the hassles of these guys as witnessed by some occurrances in P3.

Rosberg mentioning that his driving style is the same as Schumie so Merc making the car to suit Schumie is nonsense.

This is terrible news. Alonso looked very strong and the Ferrari was finally working. To me, this highlights the stupidity of not being permitted to bring a completed third car to the circuit. How could it possible save costs to forbid traveling with a third car when the teams just bring enough spares and a tub to completely build a third car?

    Man that hurts for tifosi.

Monaco is the one circuit where mechanical grip along with the mandatory max downforce package is not overshadowed by long straights that let the faster top end cars build an advantage.

That is the fascination of Monaco. It is the primary place along with Hungary left on the calender where a superior driver performance can overcome faster cars.

I still remember back in the manual days when I believe they went through somewhere around 15,000 gear changes per race or something like that. One or two missed shifts and you're looking at trouble...

Alonso had a shot to be on the front row and win this thing. I'm trying to take my mind off of that depressing thought...at this point it's going to be a damage limitation exercise with him picking up minor points...unless there's rain...unfortunately that would favor Vettel and Hamilton according to conventional wisdom.

    Frank

    p.s. Don't give up!

If a car crashes and we just HAPPEN to time the safety car right...who knows what could happen? (someone had to say it) :D

    (ducks)

(actually it really would be cool if the safety car was deployed several times and Alonso and Ferrari were able to orchestrate their moves to perfection and leap frog their way up the order. This is actually quite likely considering 1-the weather 2-this year's backmarker situation 3-there are crashes at Monaco just about every year)

    Get your popcorn ready!

7 min to go. Alonso was asked if the shunt was his fault and he said yes.

I expect a good drive from him tomorrow. He will be charging. Bad luck.
