    As much as I hate to say it, it is absolutely correct to save the new chassis for the race. If Alonso cracked up the new chassis and was unable to take part in the race itself, I don't want to imagine the fallout...

    It's called cutting your losses. Not because you want to, but that it is the lesser of two evils.
