The one manifold is pretty much done but still no wire for the camera so I can't post the pics I took.

Nice. What did you use to do the profiling? You don't have a cnc mill, do you?

I blued it, scribed it, and cut to the lines the best I could......like being back in 3rd grade again :)

The profile doesn't actually do anything but remove metal so milled to scribe lines and sanded to make it pretty is plenty good enough.

You must be pretty good with those knobs then. Doing curves like that ain't easy. Good job!

    And then there were 2.

I still need to weld around inside the top flange and do a LOT of grinding but I think I'm going cut down the rest of the TBs first because I want to see them on the engine. These are tucked in about as tight as they can be tucked I think and I think with a little angle back cut on the upper flange the cam covers will clear to come off.

    Thanks.

For me the key is to only move 1 direction at a time. I move away, move about over, move back to the line. I like to come up to the line from whichever axis is more sqare to the line, it seems easier that way. These took me about 1.5 hour each to cut the shape on.

Man, that is going to be ONE BAD A$$ MOTOR! I along with the others following this build can't wait for you to finish it. Perhaps a road trip for the initial startup is in order for some of us? (hint hint) :)

    Mark,

That's starting to look pretty spectacular!

I'm trying to imagine that big lump in the back of a tiny 308...

Looking good. I guess there is enough clearance above this for a cleaner under the deck lid?

I don't know...maybe. I've done all I can to keep it short, but at this point it is what it is. I'm going to do another test fit once I get the other 10 TBs modified and on so we'll know in a few days if it fits.

Erik whos been over to help a couple times made a suggestion I like yesterday. The QV looking air box should pop off quickly/easily to show off the TBs inside and I think I can make that happen without a lot of effort. I was planning to make the bottom removable anyway to be able to get the injectors in, so this would just mean using ball plungers in detents or similar to hold the top/sides on instead of screws.

Here’s a picture that shows kind of what I’d have……it’s kind of an optical illusion, but it you stare at it long enough you should notice there is an F1 engine in the pic with the top of the air box removed ;)
