+1. I still like Mike and won't forget all that he did for the Scuderia. However, he's now just one of the "other guys". Alonso relaxed after the safety car went in due to the rules, while MS tried to take advantage of the situation. Mike was penalized for it (deservedly so). While I was pushing for his exoneration during the Rascasse incident (wrongly so, but viewing it with Rossa-colored glasses), I'm more than willing to push for his punishment now. I like and admire other drivers on the grid, but I root for Ferrari.
Ferrari was very smart to bring the MS dream team over from Benetton lock, stock, and barrel. It took a lot of guts for Luca to swallow his pride and hire Todt and the dream team. It was a move that paid off in spades. That team was a nucleus of a revitalized team that gave the tifosi a run of success no other F1 team has EVER experienced. I believe we should always be grateful to MS, Brawn, Byrne and the rest of the dream team for the wins and the glory they brought and how they have enriched the legacy of Ferrari. I may root against MS/Brawn ON the track, but I am still eternally grateful for the glory they brought Ferrari when they are OFF the track! The only time I will root against them is when they are on track competing against us... Frank They brought us a period of glory and dominance that has never been experienced by fans of any other team...we should be grateful for that.
Remember folks it was Ferrari that started this whole Schumacher redux idea after Massa's crash. Be careful what you wish for...
LOL I wish Schumi had not tried to get away with breaking the rules on the last lap in Monaco when the SC went in. Just reminds everyone of his former transgressions particularly parking to block competitors during qualifying AT MONACO! He is indeed his own worst enemy. Karma redux!
I think it's hard to hate a man that gets out of his car and has a smile on his face just about any time you see him on camera. The guy looks like he is REALLY enjoying it out there, which is a nice break from other drivers who look ready to stab the first person they see.
Yes, and hopefully you'll be drunk enough to agree to a bigger bet next year This is a building year for Schumi. He'll be spanking your boy Alonso in 2011! In the meantime, GO MASSA!
OK; one last time ... I promise. Herewith the evidence: 1. MS was run off by Ferrari for Kimi. 2. MS wanted to come back with Ferrari, but no seat was available. 3. MS desired, for whatever reason, to compete in F1 again. 4. MS availed himself of the next best opportunity, namely a reunion w/ Uncle Ross. Was his decision to return daft? Perhaps. I think he's doing fairly well, although he's not the MS of old. And I think he'll get better. Was his decision treasonous? Hell no. He wanted to race for Maranello at least one more year after his last full season, and he wanted to race for them this year. He couldn't and went elsewhere. Get over it. Does he deserve villification from those who whose sacred idol is a prancing horse? No. Don't forget, before Mike arrived at Ferrari, it was a 3rd or 4th rate team. Look it up. He, along with the team he crafted, elevated Ferrari F1 to perhaps the most dominant juggernaut in motor sports history. Recall all the good he did for Ferrari, revel in that chapter of Ferrari history, cheer for Fred and Massa, and move on. And yes, I cheer for Ferrari, have toured the factory, watched Moretti win Daytona in a 333SP, and drive a Mondial 3.2 to work every day. So, I'm a fan but not one who is devoid of logic like some MS bashers.
+100. I have to say this matches my feelings as well. Schumi wanted to race for Ferrari, but Ferrari wouldn't let him race for them. He went with the next best thing only AFTER Ferrari had closed the door on him. It's the equivalent of losing your job, Schumi tried to get his job back and was forced to go elsewhere... If you are going to throw stones at Schumi, then take your turn getting stoned as well if you've EVER gone to another job after losing the one you had... Frank Frank
Hate is a very powerful word. And i don't hate any drivers. I dislike drivers, like i dislike Hamilton... Edit : I don't dislike or hate MS just because he's in a rival team. I support both Ferrari drivers, as well as MS. If Ferrari were ever to lose a race, i'd be happy if they lose it to MS.
Formula 1 is about development, and what Ross Brawn has done is he is positioning himself to be a competitive team in the future. He wants to be at the top of the grid. ITs the first time Mercedes are there as a factory team. Schumy is one of the best at this and its why he has a 3 year contract. I am sure they wont win anything major this year....but count on them to be giving everyone trouble for the next 3 years. As far as hate schumi....that is harsh. He prob shouldnt of come back....but his return alone has re-ignited some passion back in F1. The sport has been messed with every year and they keep changing rules, altering development...blah blah...lost its luster a bit. Lets hope it gets exciting and we get to see all these guys fight it out for a championship. MJ
Kumbaya! Why can't we all just get along? All you need is love All you need is love Love is all you really need. Repent, Michael, and stop trying to pass Fcars especially on a Safety Car lap. Ha
Well, that idea backfired. Your hate thread has become a Woodstock love fest. I don't need to be drunk to offer you another bet. I'm happy to bet with you that Alonso will end up at the end of 2011 with more WDC points than MS from that particular year. We can up the ante. Since you're a Schumifan, I offer you some nice 1/18 F1 models; got one with MS from 1996 (and some others). Probably somewhat of a collectible by now. Alternatively I can offer you a Irvine Ferrari F1 helmet replica (fullscale). Think about it and make me an offer. I like anything Alonso or Vettel related. Why so rude? The man is already going towards the exit door. No need to speed up that walk...
