My father, Gerald L. Roush, died this morning at the age of 68. He was known to many of you as the editor and publisher of the Ferrari Market Letter, which he founded in 1976.

I am writing a story about his life for the next issue of the Market Letter. If you'd like to share something about your experiences with my dad, please e-mail me at [email protected].

The Ferrari Market Letter and Roush Publications will continue to be operated by the Roush family. All of us have been attending Ferrari events with our dad for the past four decades, and a lot of that information he collected has seeped into our brains via osmosis. (As some of you may know, I was named after Stirling Moss.)

We thank you in advance for your continued support of the Ferrari Market Letter.

I am very sorry to hear that your Dad is no longer with us. He was a very respected member of the Ferrari community and, what is more important, a very respected member of the human community.

I subscribed to the Ferrari Market Letter for many years and even spoke to him on the phone. While I enjoyed the market information, the articles that he wrote for the Letter were the main attraction for me.

Would you consider making the biography that you intend to write available here or, perhaps, on your website? I no longer maintain a subscription to the Market Letter, but would like to know Gerald's story.

    Chris,

My sincerest condolences to you and the family. Please pass along my regards to your mother.

Gerry and I crossed paths numerous times since the earliest days of FML. We had some interesting discussions on why he did not do concours judging in spite of having the requisite knowledge.

    Some Gerry tidbits:

    1. He was educated as a historian. I believe that this drove him to be more cautious on provenance than others may have been back in the day.

    2. While he was at FAF, I have been told, he was documenting the F-cars as they were received with serial numbers and running variations.

    3. I think one of the first items that brought Gerry to my attention was the early attempts at getting the 250LM serial numbers and histories straight. If my recollection is right this was published by the UK FOC in the mid 1970s.

I was saddened by the news I received from Sportscar Market that Gerald Roush passed today. I can attribute most of my Ferrari knowledge to his publication, and his impact on our hobby was tremendous. The few times I met him he was kind, gregarious, and always had time to chat.

He will be missed. RIP, Mr. Roush.
