An American Crime Disturbing, depressing and not an especially good movie, but it'll stay with you. Based on a true story.
I've seen a lot of Robin Hood lately: first the new Crowe version, then the Costner version (ca. 1992) and the version with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn (ca. 1977). None is a masterpiece, but all are entertaining: well directed, produced, and acted (with the exception of Kevin Costner, who sounds like he's reading his lines off notes taped to his arm)
Saw Sex and the City 2 on Thursday afternoon. Preferred the first one, but all in all it wasn't terrible. Guys who like wet tee shirts with no bras on underneath have a good scene to view!
Watched Tyson last night, a documentary of Mike Tyson's life with lots of commentary by the champ himself. Very interesting, he is a much more complex person than his thug persona would suggest. Probably the best part for me was the early videos of his training. Even at 16 that guy was scary with the speed in which he could throw punches. No wonder professional heavyweights literally looked scared standing next to him before a match.
My family and I rented "Everybody's Fine" with Robert DeNiro last night. I'll give it a 7/10. *SOME SPOILERS* Pros - pretty good cast, some funny lines, I liked DeNiro's character a lot Cons - his children were very unlikeable characters for the most part, a lot of the scenes were very depressing --Grant
Harry Brown I thought it was going to be Gran Torino with British accents, but it wasn't. very good, very violent.
Tropic Thunder. For the first time. What can I say other than it was one of the funniest things I have watched in a very long time. Blazing Saddles. Dumb & Dumber. And now I can add a third "favorite" comedy: Tropic Thunder. Robert Downey Jr. was so fantastic in this movie. Seriously if Heath Ledger hadn't died I really think RDJ would have won the Oscar that year. Tom Cruise really surprised me how funny he was as the maniacally vulgar movie mogul. 10/10
Why? Why? Why? can't they make a Sci-Fi move anymore! Just saw 2012, I wasn't expecting much, just wanted a good special effects movie. Had to sit through an extra 60 minutes of screaming kids and a family going through a divorce. The Day The Earth Stood Still- watered down sci-fi so that they could make time for 45 minutes on bratty kid without a father giving adults attitude. War of The Worlds- 60 minutes of screaming kids who hated their father, as family was locked in bitter divorce. Jurassic Park II and III screaming kids who's parents were going through a divorce. Journey To The Center Of The Earth... another movie where main character was kid without a dad, giving everyone some bratty attitude. Do any of you remember good Sci-Fi in 1950's - 1980's when the story was about the monster or the science, and we had a film full of adults and a hot chick? I'm not sure how they will ruin the remake of Creature From The Black Lagoon, but I'm sure some ********* in Hollywood is trying to work in an hour of bratty divorced kids screaming at their dad.
All those movies are just plain horrible. Hollywood spends $100 million on CGI effects and 5 cents on a script now adays.
haha i know you know they spend millions on those scripts... but that rarely makes them good. the problem is when someone does try to do something 'good' it usually bombs financially so hollywood sticks to what makes money... crap
