okay i had 2 turn on the a/c the other day and all was fine.

turned it on again today and something behind driver side in the air intake area started tapping clicking...??? so i shut it off. turned back on a few minutes later and it did same thing then all of the hvac console went out...hidden fuse of course. so i replaced that and played with the relays to see if one of them was dead.

1 was not the correct numbers but posts and ratings were the same. swapped em around. the whole timethe horn worked.

then i shut car off and now the horn wont work!!

any ideas??? hope the brothers can help with both problems...

im not turning the a/c on until the horn is figured out!

    thanks guys n gals,
    Sean

if no one can help me i'll be sad but my ferrari mechanic is flying in to work on someone elses car via through me so i guess he can help if need be :-(...just dont want to wait all week.

The horn circuit is protected by fuse #8 (25amp) in the front fuse panel in the trunk.

The horn relay is supposed to be relay D in the front panel, Bosch 0332014113.

If the horn was working before, then chances are that you blew the fuse or you have the wrong relay plugged into the horn spot.

Your "tapping/clicking" noise might have been the air recirculation flap trying to open or close, if the linkage from the actuator is damaged. Common problem.

checked fuses for the 25A #8 it is good. relays are correct ones. but the one for the A/c rh condenser is wrong one but specs on the side are the same? it is a bosch 0332204122...and smells burned up weird. no other fuses anywhere hiding? for the horn as well?

Go up to the search box and type in "348 horn help brent" and look for the thread from 4/22/05, and you'll see an exhaustive diagnosis and repair that we did on a member's horn problem a few years ago. Sorry I'm not sure how to post a link to it.

sweeeeeeet thank buddy i read the entire post went out and pulled the column apart and it was the friction contact on mine as well. weird that the same situation caused the same problem and the same fix.... i wonder if that other relay sends back some kind of charge that tweeaks the spring?

AND i did multiple searches prior to posting this question...the "brent" thing helped i think!

thanks again now i just need to get it apart and stretch the spring! yaaaay i love this car and this site and you guys..... does that sound... um never mind i still love you guys

BEFORE I checked relays fuses ect I checked to see if the horn air pump was getting 12V and it wasn't when I pushed the horn button. I applied 12V to the horn air pump and nothing... it was fried. I know this wouldn't have helped you as your contact wasn't making it at the horn button however the horn air pump is another thing to check and they DO go bad. As I said mine was melted inside....

I replaced my air pump and got the horn working and as I said got right to the problem fast.
