No, just means that Rosberg is matching MS and maybe both Rosberg and the new MS are not that good. You rate drivers against their team mate and MS is not beating Nico thus we have no superior driver on that team, ie. no other team manager will be looking at either drivers in that team thinking "yep I want that guy". Pete
I thought drivers were supposed so scoff at their car and walk away making Cuckoo signs rather than help out a bit?
You also rate drivers against other drivers in history and the last time I checked MS held pretty much every record in F1 worth having.... I hope for your sake your (and others) fingers don't lose some speed from behind that keyboard when you're past your posting prime!
I got lucky once again and sat next to a top F1 journo on the flight back. Got quite some interesting insights: - MS isn't telling the truth when he says he just drives for the fun of it - Nico was under team orders in Turkey (which was obvious when just looking at how close and constant he followed him around) - Mercedes will make sure MS will end up with similar amounts of points as Nico by the end of the season (uh oh Isobel, bad news I suppose) - none of the drivers like MS He told me a bunch more stories and I thought to myself: They're calling ME a hater? It was funny. PS: When you read the journo's reports you would have never guessed what he personally thinks about MS. He always praises him in his columns. Funny world we live in.
......and you're just positive he didn't feed off your "Opinions" and tell you what you wanted to hear?
I supposed they dropped the appeal in Monaco because they wanted to make sure he got more points? EDIT: Despite the fact that MS has outraced Nico the last 3 races (his detractors would say they have been even, but whatever) even being even with someone as quick as Rosberg speaks volumes about MS's talent after being 41, away for 3 years, and having to come back and adapt to the new cars. I still think we will see a podium before the year is over.
Tifosi12, here's one for you: Who was this top Journo and what is his personal history interviewing MS (or perhaps being snubbed for some reason he won't elaborate on) ? Is it possible you guys were having a little personal bias fest there on the plane?
It all depends on who the journalists was that you spoke, some one english perhaps? I agree, none of the drivers are not going to like MS because he has won so many championships. They are all sick of him winning and they are all still concerned that if the Mercedes does become competitive, MS will be a real threat.
oh my god...not this crap again. I know why the drivers don't like MS......it's because he's getting the spotlight and all the attention.
They dropped the appeal because it had no legal grounds to stand on. Has nothing to do with the case itself, but all about the legal proceedings of the FIA. You cannot appeal such a decision. It is like trying to appeal a penalty kick in soccer after the game. It is not possible. Merc finally realized that. Their appeal would have cost them $ 100k, which would have been lost. Somebody who has covered F1 for over 40 years and is a personal friend of Bernie. You figure it out. You didn't read what I wrote: Those were comments he made to me in our conversation. He would never write that. He knows that the majority of his readers adore MS, so he won't put him in a negative light. But after having covered F1 for decades he has seen it all and formed his own opinion.
Yes but as your second sentence explains, this MS is not as fast as the old MS. Infact like I've said many times from ~2002 onwards MS was already slowing. Exactly and why MS's old records mean fnck nothing. Pete
2006 Debunks this... I know you are a huge MS hater but only a fool would think that MS's old records mean nothing. If they meant nothing, why was everyone so worried about him at the start of the year? Why are people still concerned that if Merc has a fast car next year MS will be a force? They're concerned because he is the most dominant figure the sport has ever seen.
I'm curious about this phrase; Does he mean he races only to win? Or came back for the $$? Or something else? Kevin
Who was worried?. All I can remember is people like Mark Webber saying he will struggle because things have moved on since his day. Pete
