Thanks! After being sabotaged a few times by my poor little plane's ailments, I'm looking forward to finally joining "the brotherhood"!

I'm going to keep quiet about it until everything is done (maybe I'm a little superstitious :)

Suffice it to say, it's a really cool one!!

That is great news. I hope all goes well, and we will soon be congratulating you and welcoming you to the Brotherhood.

    Lol.

That's awesome. The 348 is one of the most underrated Ferrari's out there. One of my faves for sure. A mix between my two faves. 355 and Testarossa. 355 lines and Testarossa Cheese Graters :)

Once the 348 grabs ya...you are never the same. I personally love mine grates and all....well especially the grates ;-) Some people say they date the car but I could care less...I think the car has great lines and a timeless design and I am the ONLY one I have to please LOL when it comes to what I drive. The TR is too much over the top and the 355's are plain looking to me (not throwing rocks that's just my opinion). They have more expensive issues to keep on top of than the 348 ie valve guides and exhaust meltdowns. The 355 is faster Bla Bla Bla but not being a "tracker" and rarely drive mine over 100MPH the 355 isn't for me. A speeding ticket in a Ferrari 100+ makes the cops and insurance agents happy but you feel it for a LONG time in raised rates, fines and maybe jail time if you are really blazin' LOL. It's hard not to drive this car over the speed limit though I will say that. The more you give her...the more she likes it ;-) and the sweeter it sounds. They say she get's squirley above 150MPH but I doubt I'll drive it that fast. The 170 top speed doesn't matter to me...I know I'll never do that. Don't want to.

The 348 has known weak areas though. Make sure you know your timing belt/tensioner history (and have documents if possible to verify it's not hearsay). If in doubt replace it so you know where you stand from the start. The water pump is an item to watch/replace/rebuild when you do the belt. Make sure the center Tbelt guide has been spot welded on. Make sure your tranny nuts are still "staked" down solid and not working loose. Watch 2nd gear shifts at too low of an RPM. Once you are "properly maintained" so you won't have an expensive issue due to lack of maintenance, drive it as much as possible...the worst thing to do for your wallet, your enjoyment and the car is let it sit. That's harder on them than driving regularly.

Great to see another Fchat brother that values the 348 looks as much as I do. Great car man...Enjoy ;-)

Hey everyone, my sincerest thanks for the good wishes and advice! I'm looking forward to becoming a more active member of this forum. Details are forthcoming, I promise!

I highly value the 348's looks -- to me, it has a true exotic presence, wedge shaped and low slung. I unashamedly LOVE the cheese graters -- one of the "Ferrari things" I fell in love with years ago when I saw my first Ferrari, a Testarossa, at 7-8 years old. The second was a 246. I had no idea what it was at the time, but my Dad told me it was a classic Ferrari, and that was all I needed. The 348 kinda' has a little of both going on.

The whole thing about the cheese graters dating the car is just...well, to each his own. I imagine the styling of a 275 is a little dated, too, but I'd sure as hell rock that thing all day long!!
