I was reading a thread in general discussion about ethanol free gas, and this prompted me to do some googling on the situation in Oregon. I didn't realize that Oregon no longer requires ethanol in 91 octane motor fuel.

The Oregon Marine Board maintains a list of resellers selling ethanol free fuel in Oregon here:

Anyone know of any specific stations in the Portland area selling it?

Thanks, their PDF list of stations that is linked off the page you sent is useful. I'm printing the list so next time I'm down I can find one nearby. It looks like some stations may not offer premium in non-Ethanol blended form.

I'm not so sure about the pure-gas list-- doesn't Washington require all automotive gas to have ethanol? In which case, what is the list telling you?

Or does Washington have a similar rule to Oregon, exempting 91 octane and above fuels?

I have more faith in the Oregon Marine Board's list, but of course that won't help you much in Washington.

I believe it is still according to county regs whether it's in the gas here in WA. Until just last year there wasn't any in most gas in my county. Not sure if the county, the state, or just the gas companies changed it though.

What's really interesting about the WA list on puregas is that several of the stations listed, none of which are anywhere close to me by the way :( are co-ops or are at least in more rural, agricultural areas. Ironic isn't it??

I looked it up, finally. Washington gas stations are required to sell at least 2% of their total fuel volume in ethanol, but they can sell ethanol-free blends, as long as they meet the total volume requirements in aggregate.

Ethanol is a concern of mine because of the water you can be pumping into your car from a gas station, even a Top Tier gas station. Prior to ethanol mixed fuels I had not heard of water in the fuel tank as a problem before. So far it hasn't been a problem with me, but it happened recently with my dad. He filled up his MB in Wenatchee and a couple miles toward Chelan it just died. After extensive troubleshooting they found out his tank was filled almost entirely with water! Fortunately the station owner did step up and pay for all the repair work. Stations are supposed to have systems to prevent water from being pumped out. Going to 15% ethanol will be even worse. And then there is the boating issues with fiberglass tanks and older fuel systems.

Maybe they should go back to the old style fuel pump glass catch tank so you can see what is going into your car.
