Did you even read angrysasha's post ?

"in reality, the 250 gto is a bit of a DNA donor for both the american design school and the italian design school. one can see clear references to the gto stance, proportions and even themes in a daytona coupe and of course in many muscle cars of the era. ferrari has also played around with american muscle aesthetics with the 365 daytona..."

It was in 1962 the first 250 GT0's were reveled. It was not until 1964 for Shelby Daytona Coupe, which was a response to the GTO. So how exactly was the GTO's design influenced by the Daytona Coupe?

I am referring to when angrysasha stated that he injected a little "American Badass" into his GTO which I take to mean an American design influence which Ferraris have had in the past.

Camaro is exactly what I was thinking. . . while not thinking about the Pretty Girls thread.

Chicko, I said that the gto was a DNA donor for both the american and Italian schools! It came FIRST!

You said - "This is too funny! Where did "American muscle Car" get mentioned? I think you are arguing with yourself."

"Muscle car" was mentioned in the related preceding paragraph, i was merely pointing that.

Your 100% right, you did previously say that, but you also used the 250 GTO and Shelby daytona coupe's design comparison as a apart of your argument to do with "American Design influences" on Ferrari's in a later post.

    It´s interesting.

But I really hate when designers put 37´ wheels in their concepts. Almost every car looks good with bigger than life wheels, but that´s like cheating.

Rough concepts always get cheated wheels because if you put them exactly to scale they would look way to small. Every scale clay and concept has oversized wheels for this reason.

I think you guys are taking this concept too seriously. You have to remember this was just a quick exercise he did for fun. He probably does ten of these a day on napkins and scraps of paper while on the fun. It's not the end all be all GTO. if he wants to inject a little muscle car into it for kick why not?

I applaud him for reaching outside the cliche retro designs that get ooohs and aaaahhs from all the diehards yet are nothing new nor visionary. To call it horrific is just bad mannered. If anything deserves the label of horrific it would be that recent gold one off that looks like a bad kit car.

Sasha, if I my ask are the 3d renders done in Alias? They are very well done. I've been using Lightwave just because Alias is too much $$$$$$ but it just takes me too much time to do regularly.

The problem is that when they finally have to build the real car the wheels look tiny, something quite usual in todays cars.

Maybe they could avoid that problem if they made the design around the wheels the real car is going to use.

    Don´t know, just asking.

Hi Sasha! Good to see you here!
Please stop experimenting and start building these kind of things! I really like what you've done and hope to see more of your wonderful ideas!

Are you still with VW? Or are you advertising your skills on personal behalf?
I wish you all the luck in the world.

    Michiel,
I think your 250 GTO concept is the best I've seen. Has it been produced yet? No offense to Sasha.

Thank you, Robert. Two very different approaches though: one retro to be built on an existing chassis, while Sacha's design is a lot more forward thinking with no coachbuilding intentions. I wonder how it would look if both these approaches would be combined. :)

The Vandenbrink GTO is no longer my concern, though... I recently left Vandenbrink Design. Please read this write-up: http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=205&Itemid=37

I thought your design, while retro, was modern and elegant enough to be the production 599.
    Good luck on your own.

    Michael,

I am not advertising, just having fun at home after work. this project was done completely on a non commercial basis. just for fun.

the basis for the car was an aston martin one77 chassis with modifications to front and rear overhangs and different concept for interior layout (driver-steering wheel-ergonomics very similar to murcielago). I found the 599 proportions not dramatic enough for what i wanted to achieve, its sad to see that other companies can come up with more attractive proportions.

I have absolutely no production plans or aspirations for this car. i did it just for fun. projects at work are the ones i invest most of my hopes into.

by the way, i really like your gto concept VERY much, it was one of my motivations (and inspirations) in trying to do one myself.

I still work for the same company, happy with my job!

That's exactly how many of the greatest things start.
Fun over commercial gain often produces valuable things. However, when these kind of things eventually become commercial, a lot can change. Fun should always prevail.

Thanks, always happy to inspire others.
Your concept also inspired me. I made some changes, if you don't mind.
I rounded off some geometrical shapes and reworked the front end, a.o.
    How do you like it?
