Never say never. I remember this one guy from Asia (a prince of some sort) who thought the Enzo was slow. Same thing with that Saudi Arabian ex-rally driver: He thought SLR was too slow and put a SLR engine in a Mercedes-Benz SLK shell.

But I agree 100%, these new cars are very good untouched...

Agree with a lot of what you say and am glad I am not the only one to have noticed the lack of for want of a better word "enthusiasm".

Its easy for journalists to get "used" to supercars, the true test is we as enthusiasts and owners get exposed to the GTO in the metal.

When you is yours arriving? Friend of mine has ordered one which should arrive towards the end of year and I know 2 other guys getting, the first of which should arrive in Sept.

I agree, but if you have no intention to ever sell it then that's not an issue!

+ surely it'd be faster than a 750bhp GTR? either way It'd be awesome!

As far as modifications go, I wonder how the market would see RHD conversions on the Fx0 cars? - I've spoken to a couple of people who'd like an Enzo but just can't bear driving LHD cars in the UK.

And in 997 Turbo form quicker than the 599 GTB and GTO, with six cylinders. That is very, very ... very, very good.

It's a marketing event. You save the legendary names to kick start sales in a sluggish economy.

Porsche are guilty, too, having cashed in on the Speedster name two times too many (911 and 964) and now the Boxster Spyder.

why would anyone compare a 911 to a ffront engined v12 ferrari? so silly. if all you want is speed, save the money and get a vette. the 911 is great but its really just a fast beetle. the ferrari is a motor-car...

There it is! Harris is very good but he's reaching, and it's borderline desperate, to find fault with this masterpiece. Too much noise?? Perhaps he's on Porsche's payroll.

I cant agree with this, Ferrari have not taken the use of the GTO name lightly, it is a seriously big deal for them toe revive the name.

As for a Turbo being quicker, well not sure about this, on a Targa Florio style mountain pass a 599 HGTE has not trouble keeping up with a 2010 911 Turbo PDK...

The reason for the GTO name has Mr. Montezomolo written in the last Ferrari Magazine; it is a very special car, no doubt about that.

If you want to see a truly great article on the GTO, try get the latest issue of Tope Gear magazine, was reading through it this morning at the Ferrari dealer, stunning pictures and a even better article.

Easily the best article I have read on the GTO so far.

Agreed, very good article--also the article in Car is quite well done. Saw both when I was in London last week. Still waiting to see the "Evo" video of Harris' drive and track work...supposed to be up last Tues but so far, haven't found it.
