    Mark,

We lost two cars. One of which was sold before we could inspect it (international car) and the silver local car was sold out from under us despite having signed a contract.

Been a very busy time for me which is why I have not participated on the forum much. I graduated with my MBA in Supply Chain Management along with attempting to maintain regular business hours. Not easy...

Still looking for a flairs/chairs car.

    -Dan

PS- Mark, PM me your email and I'll send you photos of the silver/red car.

Not at all. There is an f-chat member that has posted about a GT he just purchased.

You have seen two GTS's sell.

There have been a couple of other Dino's that have changed owners. Even more interesting is it seems like there are still a couple of people still looking, yourself included. Another member posted a thread the other day looking for a GT coupe.

I am not saying the market has changed in any way, I am just saying it is interesting the amount of movement within the market over the last 45 days.

    Dan -

Shawn is not being facetious. I have been looking for another Dino since July 2009. Shawn and several others here know that I have been seriously looking, and I even contacted the broker who sold John Corbani's car to Germany to try to buy it back, as crazy as that sounds. In my case, I already own a great 246gts, but I wanted to buy a mechanically solid 246gt, with decent, but not perfect paint (and no rust or accidents) that looks good from 10 feet away. The problem for me has been that our 246gts is so nice now that my wife and I get a little paranoid that we'll get blasted with rocks or that road debris will hit it while either of us is driving it. So, we decided to buy the best "driver" Dino that we could find that met our requirements so that we can drive it the way Dinos should be driven - we bought the blue Dino at Specialty Sales this past weekend, and it will arrive at our garage this coming Sunday or Monday.

My feeling now, after looking at and driving several cars, is that the Dino market is pretty strong again. A wide range of Dinos (from rough cars priced appropriately to trailer queens, also priced appropriately) are in play again. The thing is, after you have looked at and driven several, and had PPIs done, you eventually will learn to trust your own judgment to make the right decision. Sure, some decisions will not always work out as planned, but if someone keeps on looking and passing on cars (I emphatically am NOT saying that you have passed on cars - in your case they have apparently been sold out from under you), or decide that they will ONLY consider a certain model Dino, they may end up with nothing to show for it. I guess in some sense I just got tired of looking for the perfect (as in the sense of how I mean "perfect") driver, but instead of walking away and giving up the search, I realized that I had found a really strong car with an honest history, and I decided to pull the trigger and make the purchase. I have no regrets that I made that decision.

I admit however that I also wanted AC, so I am planning on adding that to my "new" 246gt - I hope to post the details with the photo and explanatory assistance of Synchro (Scott M) in the future.

If you can't find the perfect Chairs and Flairs Dino, maybe you and your buyer should consider a different version.

I 100% agree. Almost ALL of the cars advertised as this in the last couple of years are simply not based on factory records. Unless the seats are originals and the paint is original, I adopt the Missouri state motto, "Show me".

Flairs and chairs are like Daytona spyders, there are more today than when created and almost all questionable ones have some strange "factory supplier" involvement....

    Hi Gents,

Thanks for the very informative posts! Disrespect was not my intent in my last post, I just could not tell the direction of the post - hazard of posting on the online forum.

Got a lead on a couple more cars. We have looked at both F/C cars and non-F/C cars but part of the excitement in the purchase process is the hunt for the right car. It is like the turning point or climax in a good novel when the right car is found. Patience will persist, I'm confident in that.

    Thanks again,
    Dan

    Hi Guys,

GREAT news! We have signed a contract with a reputable seller and pending an inspection (contract also signed here) we will be en-route to taking delivery in about 10 days time. I want to thank you all for your help, insight and knowledge of the flares/chairs Dino and Dino market. It has been a bumpy road to ownership but like all business, sometimes the smoothest road is not the best road.

I cannot divulge much about the car right now, but I will post photos as soon as the inspection is complete and the car is paid for in full. It is a documented F/C car that has not been publicly posted for sale. Thanks again.

    Fondly,
    Dan

Mark, just signed on and recieved the information. Thank you!

    Hi Guys,

What a cool end of an exciting hunt. We had some ups and down but we've been introduced to lots of dedicated Ferrari faithfuls and knowledge sources who will on call for the next hunt!

I do not believe the car will be spending any time in Westchester, let alone Scarsdale, but if that changes, I will notify all local members. As promised, I will be taking a full photo shoot and posting the photos.

Lastly, I know I need an original flares/chairs spare wheel/tire. I do not want the current reproduction, only original. Where would I find one? Current condition is unimportant as it will be restored to factory condition.

    Thanks as always.
    Dan

    Dan -

You were advised of the rules regarding 'want ads' in February and indicated you would be following them.

    1) You still haven't done so.

    2) You never answered the question, are you in the car restoration business or is this search for your own garage?

Just tried to make the ad and I got a message saying I was not authorized to do so...

Car is for a friend of mine. I am not in the search for financial gains. I have not seen nor have asked for a dollar.

Since you posted such a disparaging post (since deleted) about the dealer with whom you were working, again I ask: Did he give you a serial number or did you simply agree to buy the car unseen with no SN?

    Good Q!
It takes a proposition and agreement with backing funds transfer to consumate a deal.

No news from Dan for three months. Did this thread become a retelling of Puff the Magic Dragon? Or is the hunt still on?

I am disappointed by the lack of news.

When this thread was started by Dan, I was challenged by some for expressing my suspicions that this thread was just another in a long line of WTB A DINO threads that in the end have usually vanished into the mists and fogs of time. A couple of FCHATTERS jumped up to vouch for Dan - you know who you are - "I declare: I believe this Gent is 10000% legit; welcome to the board . . . ." and "I will vouch that Dan is 1000X legitimate . . . .", but a few shared my suspicions, such as Mike O (MRONY), and others suggested that Dan or his principal needed to focus on what was important (tx246 - Mr. S to you and me). I came around to a more positive view and sent Dan several PMs with suggestions, and publicly supported his efforts.

But in the end, this thread seems to have drifted off into oblivion, and one of the earlier "vouchers" also ended up questioning what has been going on.

So Dan, if you're out there, give us an update! If you or you principal haven't found a car yet, and if you are still hunting, then I suggest that you should buy OMGJON's beautiful GTS!!!!!

    Dan, please.

Nothing would make a bunch of us happier than if you finally closed a solid deal on a Dino.

    Mark,

I have been very busy and forgot about the thread. My friend bought a car but it was not a car I found. I hear he is very happy with it! I'd love to share particulars but frankly, I don't have any.

    Thanks,
    Dan

I have a 74 GTS flair, chair and wheels car. Not for sale. I modified the car 20 years ago for racing. I thought there were only 84 like mine. I was way off.
