328 Injector Bushing

Dont bother. They don't leak there. They only leak at the poorly (German) designed seal that surrounds the nozzle itself.

I have just had these out of my manifolds to replace the seals (manifolds off the car). A couple of them just came out when I pulled the injector. The others I squueezed out slowly/carefully using a C clamp & a socket. Got them all out without damage. The plastic is some kind of very hard/brittle material so, and, as you have discovered they are VERY expensive to replace, so be careful!

 

When I cleaned my injectors after failing emissions, I found that one of these plastic bushings was deformed, likely causing undesired fuel deposition onto the intake wall, thus reducing the atomized fuel flow and causing the high HC in my emissions test. I decided to install o-rings into the lower openings of the bushing to keep the injector reasonably aligned. It worked quite well; I have passed emissions since. I do desire to replace it, but, at the high price, and since my driving is limited until I complete my vehicle's freshening, I will likely make my own replacement later. If I do, I will see about making them available.

Saw that, commiserations. Which bank is leaking the coolant & did you have noticeable coolant usage in recent weeks/months?

 

Yep...pull it an rebuild it. It'll be fun. Take lots of pics, too.

 

Get a 355 and both will be out of commission at the same time! Good luck and post the before and after photos!

Iain, help me understand how the C clamp and socket worked to get the bushings out. Also what is the part no. and size of the thin o ring.
