Hi, just washed the engine and engine bay for the first time (will post pics later on in the TR sub-forum:)).

As I was wiping off a hose, following it along in the left upper inner fender I unexpectedly met its open end.
Apparently, it was just tucked in. The proximal end, as you can see in the first picture, connects to the medial fitting of the supero-anterior aspect of the left intake manifold.

I was careful in doing this, so I can say with certainty that I did not pull it out of anything. Also, I can tell that nothing had to ''give'' as part of my chancing upon the end of this small hose.
I carefully inspected the region but did not see where it could have been attached to distally.

In the second picture, I draped it across the oil-fill cap. It previously resides inferiorly to the cap.

After the engine and bay was allowed to air dry for an hour while I was performing this general detailing, she started up as usual. The open end of the hose was producing a vacuum.
I then let the motor run for @ 15 minutes to speed along the drying process and pulled her back in and took some pictures.

I scanned through the WSM and Parts Manual but did not run across the needed info.
Please help. I thank you ahead of time, and also apologize ahead of time if the answer is a simple one.

How has your car been running with the mystery hose disconnected?

    Hi Bob,
I have not road tested her, merely into the garage.

I believe that hose goes to the electronic ignition "brain" box, located under the left rear fender. Look under there and you will see a rectangular box, there will be a vacuum port. I'm guessing that hose goes there. Please take a look and report back.

That is the engine vacuum (Load) signal to the electronic ignition control unit. The unit selects different advance curves depending on the vacuum. There should be a vacuum fitting on the ignition ECU located on top of the left inner fender panel that the hose connects to. Just plug it in, you should hear a change in the idle speed when it is connected.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

I will implement and provide a follow up tomorrow. My wife won't let me run back out to the garage! :(

Here's a photo showing the two possibilities (The one you marked, on the 90-deg fitting, goes to the AC stuff on my TR, but they could be switched easily/inadvertantly/without consequence operationally on any TR. Also, both of mine are routed between the lower intake runners for cyls #11 & #12 and under the loop in the #12 injector metal line, but I have no idea if that is "correct" -- but yours, running over the oil cap and on top of the alternator air hose, seems oddly routed to me):

    Hi Steve,
What a great photo! It is the one going to the ECU fitting. I did spot the connections to the AC vacuum reservoir.

If this hose had been disconnected prior to my activities today, I wonder if it could have been playing a role in the engine's lean vs. rich issue, which with your input -along with those from others- I am still investigating (bought a vacuum gauge over the weekend!).

    Thanks you.

btw, how do you get your "arrows" to be so straight? I have been envious of this.

By pasting the photo into an excel file and using the drawing tools in excel (arrows, text boxes, etc.), and then doing a "print screen" of the excel file and pasting that into an existing photo.

    Thank you.
Much better results than my Photoshop Elements.
Back to the picture: I hope that TR was merely undergoing a repair, or enjoying a restoration.
