F2004
I am a huge GTO nut... but... i don't think the 250 GTO is the brands finest achievement. There have been other better or more inovative cars during there period. However, if we are not talking cars... Id have to say the Brand itself is its finest achievement. The aura, the mystery, the drama, its a car company that is so much more than just a car. Its the whole "everything about them" also, just plain flat out surviving. Still being around and relevant is supremely impressive. If i had to pic something technical... id say the colombo V-12. If I had to pic a person besides Enzo... id say LdM... If I had to pic a car... its whatever the next Enzo replacement is... that or the F40... that was pretty damn break through... Finest achievement beauty wise... 250GTO Best sound... 250 series cars... or a 355 ok... now i am getting off track
+1 one, live 'em just as much. You get a great feeling when sitting in one and you look some where and see PORSCHE. Their NA flat 6s give me the same listening please as Ferrari V12s. I do think that they are built with passion, and I do think they have a soul. Sorry, just a little rant. I am a strong believer in Porsches! Steve
"Don't be fooled, she may seem like your typical selfish, back-stabbing slut-faced ho-bag, but in reality, she's so much worse than that".
I agree with you, but Porsches are everywhere...like all those upper-class helicopters in Brave New World. BTW, when I was in HS, we had an immaculate red 356C.
Enzo's finest achievement was his last, the F40. He said as much. "On July 6 last year I asked my research department to look into the feasibility of building an exceptionally powerful sports car incorporating the very latest developments in engine and assembly technology. Only six days later, the directors gave the project their blessing, and now, barely a year later, the finished car stands before you." -F
Without question! So many amazing cars but the 288 GTO just stands heads and shoulders above every other car ever built.
I know. I admire Porsche cars capabilities but I have never truly lusted after one (other than the Turbo RUF's, the 965 (perhaps mye favorite 911), the Carrera GT when it came out and 997 GT3 in white for a while). I too think they are everywhere, but my issue with them is that they are the preferred choice of a lot of tools out there (lawyers, hot shot real estate agents, dentists+++ who buy the cars because of the brand not the qualities). Especially after the 996 dropped hard in price, almost every wanna-be baller out there's got one. But then again, you can easily separate the posers from the enthusiasts by talking to them for two minutes
With Porsche, I'd start by seeing if they have a coupe or convertible. Coupe, there's a good chance they are enthusiasts, convertible, almost always some tool that just bought it as a status symbol. Steve
It could be both. I consider myself a diehard car enthusiast and would get a 911 convertible, quite simply because they make the best convertibles in class. A 911 4S Convertible would be the perfect all year allrounder.
True, true. I love Porsches and the cabs, it's just that the image of the coupe is so much cooler and much more fitting for an enthusiast IMHO. Sorry for off-topic... Steve
