I was after a 355 and would have paid about 60K to get one, but this sad 348 SS came up at 42K and I had to have it. I'd go with the SS any day over the 355 just to have something rare and unusual. It doesn't have to be as fast as a 360, but it is plenty fast enough to scare the sheit out of me. Buy what makes you happy.

$45k is top dollar right now for any 348 that is selling IMHO. The normally market averse green would say it is an above market offer. True that you may love the color, but you will definitely have a hard time selling it in the next 5 years. I can't believe they did not jump at your offer!!!

Plus the odometer has been tampered with. Which sounds suspect to me, either the car has EPA/DOT papers and a plaque or it doesn't. Adding miles doesn't change the process of Federalizing a car as far as I know.

    I think it's a tax issue.

If you try to bring a car into CA for instance below a certain mileage (I think 7,500 or so) then you have to pay full sales tax in CA. CA wants to avoid that you buy a new car in a state with no or very low sales tax and then bring it into CA as a "used" car skipping CA sales tax.

Agreed with price is too high. I think $45k is too high for a green grey market 348. I bet you could get it for mid-high thirties. $45k will get an SS.

Spoke with Tim. Made offer last Thursday. Haven't heard squat back as of today's date (Tuesday).

    Offered 45k (with delivery included).

Consignment car; so owner is living a pipe dream fantasy of what the car is worth. My offer is fair.

I bought a 348 Spider a year ago. I HAD to have yellow. That was a problem as there aren't that many out there. Spent 2 years looking. Finally found the right car....in perfect condition. And paid probably top dollar for it. Worth every penny I spent. I wouldn't change a thing. If you really want green, I'm guessing this is the car for you. If you want a green SS, I'm guessing this is the only car for you. There's nothing wrong with spending more for something you really want. Lou

It all depends on what you want to do with it and what you like. If you are going to keep the thing forever and green is your color - go for it. I still wouldn't offer more than 40 though. If you plan on reselling it later I would pass and get a more sellable color like yellow/red or black. I could have gotten a 360, but I really like the 348 look, especially since I added a lemans grille and a set of 360 wheels. The thing is no rocket, but unique to own nonetheless.

hmmm. that doesnt sound like big Tim to me....ill call him ...okay left him a voice message on his cell...he WILL call me back. and ill let you know. one thing is for sure... Harris will not sell a car if it is not clean enough for them to feel comfortable about the deal. if the owner wont budge that is not their fault. but they WILL do anything they can to sell you that car...maybe he's working the deal with the owner??

i am pretty good friends with tim and actually one of the mechanics that used to work for them just flew out to put a clutch in a 360 for my buddy....i helped too! but he even told me, "even though i don't work for Harris anymore i have to say they dont put crap cars in their showroom!"

promise you i will find out and let you know.

took him 4 minutes to call me back! ...said he has been super sick at home since friday.

if this is the same car i saw when i was there last time....trust me this is one clean car (i went with a spider). i'd say it is in top 95% of 348's. says that when they pulled the motor for the service it literally looked brand new inside. yes you WILL find cheaper cars out there but they won't be this clean or in this rare of a color combo i'd bet.

he said he would love to deal with you but as it is a consignment car he only has so much room to work

he said he will call you tomorrow(thursday).

i will leave the business dealing to you to.
but you have to keep in mind that shipping a car from utah to florida would be about 2 grand...so essentially you are asking for 43k.

Attached is a scan of the warranty book for the Verde Scuro 348 TS in question. As you can see, this was a 1993 USA model that was delivered new by the factory. Yes, the odometer was set forward for customs purposes. Any inspection of this car will immediately verify this. I agree that a premium is being asked for the condition of the car in question. I disagree that the premium is excessive for a car that is in unrepeatable "time warp" condition. If concourse competition is your thing, this car will easly dominate it's class at any major FCA event. If you just want a driver, or a merely "nice example" there are plenty of less expensive 348s to be had.

You can disagree all you want to the assesment that has been made about the premium, however in the end the marketplace will always dictate what a car will sell for. Quite frankly whatever excuse you give for the odometer, the truth remains that it was still tampered with, which never helps the situation. Being in the car business I am sure you are well aware of the expression "your first offer is sometimes your best one" Good luck with the sale.

Here is another example of a stubborn dealer that thinks a car is worth more
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Ferrari-348-Spider-1994-348-SPIDER-22K-Mi-355-WHLS-BLACK-NEW-/120584156961?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c13603721

He was asking low 50's about a month ago. I called and made him an offer very close to his current BIN and he dismissed it in much the same way you have supported your car above, yet there it is with a 10k price correction and soon to drop further when all is said and done. I have since bought a car, and all he has succeded in doing is prolonging the agony for himself and his client that has consigned the car. One other thing to point out, while I am not a red car person, non-red Ferrari's really don't command a premium.

Just kinda goes to show that the market is controlled by what buyers are willing to pay moreso than sellers with inflated ideas of what their cars are worth. Some cars aren't really for sale...

Yep. I inquired years ago about a beautiful Azzurro 512M and the dealer handling the consignment flat out told me the owner wasn't realistic with his price nor was he willing to deal. I think he still has the car.

i paid 45k for my spider...i feel that i got a great deal as these cars were 60 plus only 2 years ago....realistically this car would sell for what someone will pay. i don't think it is "out of line" for the condition.
