Well gang, I think I may have a problem with my car at Fox Valley (aka, Lamborghini of Chicago). The car is in for some minor work --- which was supposed to be completed several days ago. At first, I got all kinds of "odd" excuses for the delay....now, I'm getting double talk and "stories" that are contradicting themselves. As of last Friday and Today, it has now degenerated into my phone calls not being returned, and repeated promises from the service manager to call me back are being broken.

I live about 400 miles from Chicago, and I already went up there about a week and a half ago to check out the car and to talk about the work to be done with the tech ---- everything seemed cool, and I had no reason to distrust anyone at Fox at that time.

However, I am now getting very anxious and suspicious about things. My concern is that they have damaged the car, and they are scrambling around to get it repaired without any intention of ever telling me about it. Call me paranoid, but I know of several folks who have had this happen to their cars at other shops, and I don't think any shop is free from the temptation to do such a thing. And, all their stories about how the shop acted towards them parallel how mine is starting to unfold....so, my radar has been activated....

At this point, I don't want to raise the issue with Fox and accuse them of anything without having hard evidence. So, it would ease my mind a great deal if someone in the area would be willing just to "drop by" Fox Valley and confirm that my car is in fact still at their facility and is not damaged.

If anyone is available and willing to help me out, please send me a PM ---- I would greatly appreciate it ---- Thank you. It would be best if this could happen ASAP, please.

    Signed,
    "Desperate in Des Moines"

I'm just a few miles away from them. I have always heard they were "stand-up" guys so I have a difficult time believing they would pull something over on you.

PM me if you would like me to swing by and have a lookie. Just to be sure the car is fixed correctly, I think you should let me test drive it for a week or so, then I'll deliver it right to your door.:D:D:D

    Thanks John :)

As yet another example of how great it is to be involved in the Ferrari (and F-chat) communities, several members have graciously offered to help me out :).....And, a "spy" has been dispatched so, looks like I'm covered.

Also, my gratitude to any others whom may have considered helping :)

That's what I've heard, too. And, I am not accusing them of anything at this point. In fact, I'll feel pretty silly if I find out everything is okay. This isn't really about FVM (LoC), it's about me wanting to cover my a** and feel comfortable, and having seen this sort of thing happen several times at several shops over the years --- one of which happens to be a factory-franchise Ferrari Dealership in a major US city (I am not going to name them).

And, on a personal note, it happened to me with one of my daily drivers at my local dealership. Sure it was only a Lincoln, but of course, that's hardly the point.

One of their two mechanics had to take an extraordinary leave of 3 working days for personal reasons (death in the family). That's why they got behind on the workload on a number of projects.

I'm well aware of that, and I have nothing but sympathy and understanding for TJ --- I met him after I dropped the car off, and he impressed me as a great guy ---- everyone at Fox did, for that matter.

I am also well aware and appreciate that there is a symphony of logistic and infrastructure things unfortunately happening at the same time --- and are somewhat out of their control. They are being flooded with the big factory recall from Lambo.

I believe that at the end of the day, my concerns will prove to have been unwarranted ---- but, I can't apologize for being concerned....:)

My car has been up there for 4 weeks as of today --- and it's going to be at least another week :( ..... for about 3 days worth of work, if it could have been knocked out on schedule :(

I am friends with the service manager John. I will call him tomorrow and ask him if there is an issue. I doubt it as for he is a stand up guy. I have done alot of work for them over the years and I know for a fact they would never hide damage

Thanks for the offer, but it's not really necessary. John called me this afternoon, and we had a good chat about my concerns ---- apparently someone called him up to bring his attention to my thread here, and he called me in response. That, in itself, is a stand-up-guy thing to do.

I told him that I was having someone take a look at the car for me, and he was fine with that.

I have talked to John on several occasions while the car has been up there. He seems like a very nice person and genuinely tries hard to please his clients. When I was at Fox dropping the car off, he and I shared a smoke break together ---- I like John.

But, this is not about him, or anyone at Fox. It is not about people, it is about business. They have to watch out for theirs.....and, I have to watch out for mine.

Sounds like everything turned out fine. Glad some folks around here could help. I still think a quick test drive would be good, well at least for me!:D:D:D:D

For your next post on FChat, I suggest you give finnerty an apology. He never made accusations, he only posed questions.

    Thanks for the defense, mate!

I certainly meant no accusation. Interestingly enough the guys at Fox Valley got wind of my post late last week (it's a small world ;)), and called me immediately out of concern. They were not at all offended or defensive --- they told me that THEY did not interpret my comments as an accusation in any way. They just wanted to address my concerns, assure me that my car was fine, and apologize for the delay --- very good of them to do that and to respond in such a professional and courteous manner.

Happy to do so. Many here just jump to conclusions without merit!
