It's troubling to me, all the announcements are tax incentives from the local and State authorities.....how many carrots do you have to dangle, to get the ox to move?

Note that's opposite of most FUNDED developments/ventures, where right after the Media announcements you have the photo ops of principles, smiling at the camera and putting a Gold Shovel into the ground.

Tavio needs to borrow a set of chromed Hard Hats.....and maybe a camera...:D

Note also a quiet "Not in MY backyard" contingient, to a new flight pattern over the City, for every winner there is a loser, and I hope there isn't a Big Enough Player out there in the River bottoms, to put a wrench in Tavio's spokes.......

And a website helped USF1. (become a total laughing stock.......)

sounds like they have the same people, what next a visit from Bob Varsha to drool over a pile of dirt? Maybe a few YouTube skits of earthmovers, a computer generated graphic of a racetrack?

Maybe there will be a USGP track to dowload once "F1 2010" the video game hits the shelves. If that ever happens.

Dude! - You should suggest it to the guys that did the USF1 skits - They could have fun with Texas!

[IIRC, they're in the UK, so I doubt the "Austin GP" is such a big deal so far....?]

    Cheers,
    Ian

    V. funny, but once again we see how USF1 has made this country a laughing stock when it comes to F1. Anyone looking to start a team, secure a drive or promote a race here has to start off with a lack of credibility due to these clowns.

There may be a few exceptions. Either a manufacturer like Ford or a proven team like Penske.

True but Ford isn't thought of as primarily as American when it comes to motorsport and as we all know the Capt can do anything ;). As for mere mortals, they start with a handicap thanks to the USF1 jokers.

Anyone that sent an email inquiry received that automated response. I'll be meeting with them personally soon and hope I can make some business plans accordingly. Unfortunately I will not be able to discuss any details.

    Here we go again....

US GP risks 'penalties' for failure
    ESPNF1 Staff
    July 1, 2010 «
Organisers of a United States Grand Prix risk penalties if the race does not go ahead in 2012.

That is the warning of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, who more than a month ago announced a 10-year contract for a race in Austin, Texas. The contract, with promoter Tavo Hellmund's company, involves the construction of a purpose-built circuit.

But given a lack of details so far, and the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway's failure to make the US GP a success, some pundits are sceptical about Austin's bid. For example, the source of the bulk of the funding is a mystery, with Ecclestone revealing nothing more than that the backers are from the US.

It has also been suggested that 2012 is an overly optimistic race debut date, but Briton Ecclestone insists it will take place then.

"That's what the contract says," he said. "It might turn out to be expensive for Tavo. We've got some penalty clauses, although I wouldn't want to use them."

Ecclestone said he is confident Hellmund's project will succeed.

"Until he doesn't [succeed], we won't know," Ecclestone added. "You might say I couldn't run the 100 metres in seven seconds, but until I try, you don't know."
