So I have an '86 328 GTB that has the dealer installed rubber moulding around the channel at the waist of the car. I have lost 2 pieces and have decided to remove all of it. Does anyone have any good methods for removing 24 year old, petrified, moulding adhesive? So far all I find will also eat the 24 year old paint.

    3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner.

We use it all the time. It will not attack the paint.

Nothing that is safe to use on the paint is going to be an easy job. This stuff works well but it will take some time and elbow grease.

I have found that pure orange D-Limonene degreaser works better than 3m adhesive cleaner on dissolving old hardened trim glue. You can try the 3m, but when it doesn't work get some D-Limonene.

I use it all of the time also. In fact, its also good with CoCo Puffs in the AM.
