24th works great for me too.
The 24th is it! This is going to be so cool. I'll work out the logistics as we get closer. I can clear the garage and apron so all we have are F-cars. Gonna look like a used car lot around here. My neighbors, aka, the walking dead, are gonna freak. Cool. Got to watch the ads for a sale on whole chickens.
Vince we need 4 jackstands per car to make it easy. I'll bring 8. Do you have a pretty good hydralic floor jack?
I have 1 jack, 2 stands and 2 ramps. I intended to only lift the rear end and work on a single car at a time, maybe 2 in the garage. My driveway apron is stamped concrete and I would have to move out if it gets damaged. I have been warned.
I've got the allen key set (19mm, 12mm and 10mm) needed for the drains and plugs, extra jackstands if needed - let me know what I can bring. How about some big hammers, lol.
Make sure you let me know when you are coming to town - I've got a case of that Karl Strauss beer you loved so much just for you, haha!
we could get some plastic like to protect for rain runoff and tape it down on the ground and still try to be neat. The plastic would be rolled up a thrown away and protect the floor.
Found Mobil 1 15-50 oil in 5 quart jugs at WalMart for $21! Dudes, that is $4.20 per quart! I am getting a bunch today or tomorrow just to have it. Now all I need is a sale on chicken...
Hey Vince, Getting my shopping done today - just got the SS brake lines off of eBay, thanks for the tip. Got all of my fluids on Amazon - came to $202.17 shipped for Redline gear oil, Redline engine oil and ATE super blue. Not bad at all. I think I have some BMW coolant floating around the garage somewhere...so, I should be all set. I have a pair of jack-stands and a decent jack...let me know if I should bring those along. Also, please put me down for one of the oil change kits that Daniel sent. PS Doesn't Costco carry roasted whole chickens? We could clean them out of stock the day of...might be a suitable "Plan B" for FBB.
Wait...your car uses fluids? I just looked under your car and there was no drippage or seepage! I figured it was completely made of self-lubricating parts!
Yeah, you jinxed me...I got home tonight and found that the blinker smoke had leaked out all over the garage floor.
Sure bring em if they fit, otheriwse we'll be fine. One of the kits has your name on it. Good chicken suggestion. Still I am looking to burn, er BBQ something.
I wanted Redline gear and motor oil and was having some trouble finding it locally. If any of you guys are looking to do Redline motor oil in addition to the 75W90NS gear oil, I used this online place and pricing was great: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/category/Red_Line_Oil
12 quarts of Redline 15w-50 on Amazon for $119.40 (sihpping included if Amazon prime) - not bad at all really. Ordered it Monday, showed up this morning. Love, love, love me some Amazon!
Hey you 2 SD guys - are you both coming up? If so, I have 2 rooms if you don't want to make the trek back home that evening. Let me know who's staying at my place. Warning: You can't be allergic to cats; we have 3. Anyone else is welcome to crash on the couch on floor.
I'm planning on it, and I won't need a place to stay (thank you very much for the offer). I have one other engagement in the OC to work around, so is this going to be a morning gig, afternoon or all day? Thanks for hosting Vince!
Guess it depends on how much I gorge on motor oil, bbq wings, and beer... The prospect of waking up to the vision of PAP on the couch in those cut-off jean shorts he's famous for makes me think I better not over do it. Seriously though, thanks for the offer. What time are you aiming to start the bacchanalia?
Yeah, thanks for posting that pic in another thread recently ("hottest legs" or something)...it seared my eyeballs... Hey Vince, dumb question - on the coolant side, I did manage to dig up a jug of BMW coolant in my garage. It has just over 3 Liters left in it. Do you think I'll be ok or should I buy another jug? BTW, when is this rodeo starting next Saturday? What are the coordinates to your place? Anything else we can bring or do to help you get ready?
I would buy new coolant unless you know the age of the older stuff. It sells for about $22 per gallon and BMW uses it full strength - we won't, however. We can mix it either 60/40 or 50/50. Whatever you get, remember to get distilled water, or get it down the street from my place at Alberson's. The BMW stuff is white instead of the usual green, so when it leaks you get these white dots all over the place. I have the head count at about 8-9 including most of the stooges (me, fbb, plugz, ernie, goth), Eric and Rick, jeffdarkangel, jeff348 and a vagabond or so. Did I miss anyone and who is coming to do their cars? Jeffdark, me, Rick, Eric, jeff348 too? Can you guys confim please?
