Anybody know how much the engine & transmission of a 328 weighs? I am considering taking mine out this winter to refurb the engine bay & one option might be to take it out in one place and then stick it on a trailer to move it somewhere else to work on it.

Is this like one of those games where you try to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar?

I'll guess first before someone who knows ruins the fun. Since you're in the UK, my guess is 43 stone.

    :D :D

Oi, we is Yooropean now!! - its all Kilos & general metrickery here now ya know!

(Alternatively we do still occasionally work to the nearest hundredweight (and that'll be long hundredweight thank you very much, none of your namby pamby, transatlantic, short hundredweight melarky nonsense!!)

(273.63Kg might not have been a bad guess though ;) )

So I am faced with the same question...
Does anyone know how much the Mondial/328 3.2qv engine and gearbox might weigh.
It's not a quiz, sorry, I do not know the answer.

Closest reference I could find was a 360 engine at just over 400 lbs, add another 150 or so for the tranny and I think you would be close at 550 lbs. total.

Anything big enough to carry it can. You'll just need a hoist at each end of the trip.

Ahh not ~600lbs more like ~450lbs or ~205kgs

There are a few threads on this and one with an engine lump on a hanging scale. Don't recall the exact weight but having shipped half a dozen of these lumps over the last couple yrs I go with gross weight of 500lbs and the shipping Co's paperwork varies between 500~525lbs, figure the pallet and pressboard is adding ~50lbs or so.
