Turned over 50,000 miles today. Had a great drive, and did about 50 miles on the twisty Maryland back roads. Couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

The old girl is still serving me well. I've put almost 8,000 miles on her since I bought her in August 2007, with the only significant unscheduled maintenance being a new throw-out bearing. And despite her advanced condition, she's still a looker. I'm including some gratuitous eye-candy shots from the "Ferraris on the Vine" event this past May in Williamsburg, VA. (Photo credits go to Chris Schlumpf, aka maranelloboy05.)

    That looks lovely :)

wider rear track than normal (sorry still learning all the various models!!) Is that the SS (without the rear light grilles)?

fantastic - speaking of mid-life.... a 348 is what I'm after in the next few months. Just trying to find a decent one etc (doing my homework first!!)

    Sweet.

    Dan :)

Ahhh, so that was your car at FOTV. I may have drooled a little; if I did, I hope it came off OK. :)

Love the 360 Challenge steering wheel. I think that will be my next purchase for mine.

In fact, here you go, one more for ya...my photographic talents are nowhere near Mr. Schlumpf's, obviously. For further proof, ask Ingenere about the pictures I sent him of my Cayman S. :)

My 348 turned 20 years old this past 3rd July... Can I say it is a vintage car from now on?

Thanks for all the well wishes, guys!!

Yes, it's a Serie Speciale, number 55 of 100 in the 1993 series. The SS and Spiders had a 50mm wider rear track that was achieved by using rear wheels with a 25mm lower offset. However, my rear track looks even wider than normal because of the 360 wheels.

I do like the look. But I've been tempted to return the car to a stock look by painting the spoiler lip. Since I'm not certain, I've been holding off -- once it's painted, I won't be able to go back. I also love the look of the 360 wheels. I think they are perfect for the lines of the car.

I was thinking of reserving that for 100k plus. :) I'll let you know when I get there.

Yes, Chris shot the promotional shots for Ferraris on the Vine with Bob Weber's 355 at the same location. You can see those photos either here www.ferrarisonthevine.com or here www.chrisschlumpf.com.

The winery is a great location. I love the contrast of the bright red car against the industrial setting. Chris also took some shots of my car with the pond as the backdrop (also at the winery).

No matter how you slice it, the 348 is a beautiful machine. (IMHO :) )

The photos did come out great --all credit goes to Chris Schlumpf. I know nothing about photography. The camera he used looked big and expensive, that's about all I can say. :)
