Good job on the detail. I would recommend a scissor lift to be able to work on the lower/under parts of the car easier. You do have the most valuable ingredient though: your guy actually doing the work. Finding the right guy that is capable, experienced, and has the patience and the self-discipline to do such great work without cutting corners (so to speak) is tougher than most people may think. I'd like to commend him on his great work. He should be proud of his work and I hope he enjoys what he does!

Good luck with your growing business as well!

...."class" post Randy. Too often folks in the same or similar business find it hard to compliment the competition. When they do, it demonstrates both class and maturity IMHO

We are proud to say that the F355 exterior paint correction is now complete. We apologize for the delay as both bumpers had to follow the full paint correction process. The only step that they did not follow was the wax sealing process. The paint will need up to 4 weeks to fully cure and release all chemicals. Wax would trap everything preventing a correct cure process.

Paint meter readings show that we removed on average half a mill of paint from the cars surface. Wet sanding does not remove as much paint as pictured if done correctly. As a word of caution, wet sanding and heavy compounding can cause serious damage to the exterior if done incorrectly. Most detailers learn this skill in a body shop early in their career. The hood had the deepest damage that required the most aggressive paint removal. Bumpers would have been the same, but they were beyond saving and were repainted instead.

In total, 71 hours were spent on restoring this cars exterior. The most time was spent on the rear decklid, as it was the most complex part of the car to restore with its multi angle louvers. An average condition F355 would only require about 50 hours of work. This is because most cars would not require the wet sanding stage and only 1 stage of compound to restore.

We hope this thread gave some information that would help an enthusiast with their detailing needs. This process, although time consuming and expensive, is a great alternative to a full paint job at a fraction of the price. This would be the most extreme case of an exterior paint correction and custom detail. This is not the only style of detailing we provide. We have regular package programs that fit most customers’ needs.

    Looks amazing !!!!

Now, print your business card in a mirror image and hold it to the paint. That'd make a killer advertisement for your services. :)

Wanna fly down to NC and do mine and Mike's?

700 miles later the finish still looks great. In preparation for the Hampton rally the F355 was washed and waxed. Layering the wax and proper up keep will increase depth and shine and maintain the perfect finish.

    Steps
    -Citrus based hand wash
-Blown dry with 120 psi compressed air
    -Hand waxed with carnauba wax
-Wax removed and buffed by hand with micro fiber towel
-Sealed with Opti-seal that seal and protects the finish but also enhances gloss

No reason. We had some left over from a previous detail and wanted to try it out. It looks amazing but we will be sticking with HD for future layers.
