After bad results of these season, do you think he must leave Ferrari F1 Team? Who is better now for Ferrari?
Yes he should. Luca de montizemelo should keep his nose out of business he doesn't understand also. Jean Todt would be perfect (again), but he is now the FIA president and I don't think that one should combine those two roles . Not sure when his ban is lifted, but Flavio Briatore does get things done. + he's italian, something LdM likes so very much. Martin Withmarsh is too soft. Horner has made his first big mistake this weekend (or second, you could include turkey), and a pretty big one at that. That said, IMO he's doing well, especially considering most team principals have a good 20 years on him. Vijay Mallya of course has his own team to manage, but imo he's doing good. He turned Jordan, midland and Spyker (and whatever other names it may have had) completely around. Remember back in 2004-5, in its last Jordan year, the car was slower than the minardis. Last year it scored a pole position and a podium. This year plenty of point scoring positions and Sutil holding of a much faster Vettel, not to mention overtaking a 7x world champion .
Alonzo does a great job of running the team, just look at the last race in Spain. He was on the radio the entire time telling the team who would be best to contact when they won't let him pass...
he may not be the cleanest guy around but that's only because he was caught once. No, not even caught...His former employee told the FIA. Not a single team is as clean as they seem. Not a winning team anyhow.
When RB, JT , Rory and MS left Ferrari the heart and sole of the team left also. Domenicali IMHO does not have the skills to create another dream team. When he brought on FA he should have been working hard to get the engineers that FA works well with just like JT did when he singed on MS. A team is only as good as the sum of all of its team members.
Flavio would actually possibly be a good team principal. Although I may be saying that just because I would LOVE to hear Max Mosley's meltdown when he learned Flava-flav got the top job @ Scuderia Ferrari!
He knows what he is doing, his ingenuity isn't limited to F1 either, he is a very talented individual
If by "ingenuity" and "talent" you mean to include the felonious kind, then maybe so, but I suspect that Ferrari doesn't need the PR flak that would come with hiring a fugitive ex-con as team principal.
Harry Truman, "the buck stops here". He was in charge of everyone below him. Get rid of di Montezemelo. He is the one responsible for everyone below him. And he continues to embarrass Ferrari when he puts his foot in his mouth. Weekly.
As if Flav hadn't been in the sport before 2008 and brought up teams/drivers to be winning combinations. I'm not sure he was ever a fugitive either if you check the definition of the word. He was also accused of "crash-gate" a year after it had happened by a driver who was always crashing anyway and can't cut it in the feeder series for NASCAR. I agree with you that Ferrari could get PR flak, but if they continue in the manner they have been then they're doomed anyways, this way at least they will be successful
I don't know the ideal replacement, but Dom needs to go. It's no co-incidence, ever since he took over, the team looks more like a kindergarten rather than an F1 team.
I don't recall the subtle details, but ex-patriot Flav was convicted of fraud in Italy years ago and fled to the US to avoid a prison sentence- that meets my definition of "fugitive". A strong team principal at Renault? Certainly. Someone I'd like to see at Scuderia Ferrari? No.
Over time fugitive ex-con becomes roguish character. "Politicians, ugly buildings and whores all become respectable if they last long enough". Chinatown.
Flav is what the Scuderia need! Someone with some flair and who can inject some real passion back into the team. His relationship (and winning record) with Alonso (whether you like Alonso or not) could have some similar "magic" to the Brawn/Schumacher of old. Either way the current chemistry is fizzling ...
Should have never had the job. I've been riding Dumbmenicali since he booted away any chance at the title last year with horrible, rookie-like errors. That hasn't changed much this year either...Ferrari's primary foils to their drive for the titles are; Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari. Ferrari is perhaps their most formidable foe.
Too rough, man. Remember what Montezemolo has achieved since 1992, and you´ll see that he has a lot more PROS than CONS. If I had to fire Montezemolo, I´d do it for the Ferrari theme park, not for the results of the F1 team. Talking about Flavio, remember that his last 2 years at Benetton and his last 4 years at Renault were not good at all. He has a few other "mishaps", like when Jos Verstappen and the entire Benetton pit crew got almost toasted because they decided to remove a filter to make faster pistops, back in 1994. Are we sure that we want that guy at Ferrari? There must be someone better around there, someone with better taste for swimsuits.
+1 Steve - DO NOT POST! Who just left Mclaren after >20 years to join SF? Team principal in waiting?..... Cheers, Ian
