Need help with paint code or reference for black strip around the car?
Im finishing up my spoiler repair and need to source the paint for the strip, stripe whatever it is called.

Can anyone help with a code or reference for a flat black that they have used?

I am hoping somone has a paint code otherwise I'll have to wait until I can get some paint chips to match to my car.

How many shades of non-metallic low-gloss, flat, or matte finish black exist? Some guys even use 3/4" black electrical tape. If you're into serious into concours, find a concours judge and pump them for information. I've never seen a drawing or service bulletin with an arrow pointing to the part line. It exists but is ignored, so much like the plating finish on the ash tray...no one will fault you for non-conformance.

You don't want flate black for sure. I think you want semi gloss. I've got a couple ideas.

I painted part of my car's black strip w/ SEM trim paint, and I attached a picture of what the can looks like. You could paint the whole strip all the way around and there's no way anyone could know and pass judgement on your rattle can black unless they saw the thread here where you gave it away. that stuff is great.

My car's original belt line color is gloss though, so the SEM isn't a perfect match. I like it better not as shiny so that's how I'm having it done during the repaint.

Another idea is 'Honda black'. Most paint companies make a color like this, it's a semi gloss trim color that matches factory Honda black bumpers. I painted my bumpers with a version of this and my spoiler and rocker panels with another brand of the same Honda black.

I attached a picture of my spoiler and bumpers so you can see what those colors look like.

Here's also a pic of my muffler (flat black) and bumper. See, flat black isn't what you want.

If you're just doing a small amount, a $10 can of SEM semi gloss trim black will work great.

I have used the SEM trim black on a vette frame before very close match. So that's not a bad idea, The honda black I still need to see if my paint store can get me something like that.

I also want to do my rockers as well.
