I reflects a state of mind. Totally valid. If an owner pays attention to details, he pays attention to all the details. I wouldn't want that car either. Not if my choice is a different car whose owner gave a sh#t.
You can't necessarily tell if the owner gave a sh#t by the absence of manuals/cover/tools etc. My '04 Spider went through an auction after I believe it was repossessed by the lienholder. There were several things missing (like radio code/alarm pin/cover etc etc) but all evidence points to the previous owner caring a LOT about this car and just not leaving those items inside it when it was repo'd. Alan
Books, tools etc.. could have conveyed. I would not say because they were gone its a lack of attention.. Once it got to wherever it was sold/traded etc.. that person on could have or employees etc.. robbed them. Heck local BMW/Mercedes dealer here has had people on test drives & in the lot grabbing misc items in new cars. Now everything is removed & held out of car until sale.
I emailed the Seller today, he did say it was in getting a PPI for someone. I told him if he doesn't sell it (which might mean that the PPI revealed some ugly stuff), maybe he could get a copy of the report and email it to me. It would seem that anyone selling a Ferrari might as well get the PPI done themselves and post it on their ad...would eliminate 90% of the questions and the car would sell much more quickly for the "right" amount based upon the PPI.
You may have to PAY to see it as the PPi belongs to the previous interested party NOT the owner of the car . That was how it worked when I bought my car. its the same when buying a house if you have a home inspection done that cant be given to the next people who walk thru the house
You paid for the home inspection, typically get an electronic copy in pdf, it is yours, you can give it to whoever you like. Jes
Youre agreeing with me . i said whoever PAYS for it owns it in this case the OTHER guy having the PPi done not the owner of the car.. Thanks for clarifying
I thought the variator issue was corrected as part of F's campaign on the 360s. Does the 60K recommendation apply where the campaign was performed as well? And what is the approximate cost, do you think? Thanks in advance.
PPI result says its a great track car. Previous work was done questionably and recommended to be gone over.
What precisely does that mean, "it is a great track car" Does that mean it was beat to heck and driven like crazy? How does a PPI reveal it was tracked? Thanks.
ROTFL....... I see, thats all that needs to be said...Run- unless you need a beater for the track, then I guess this fits the bill.
You can usually tell by looking at brake rotors etc. Cars that have been tracked usually have heat discoloration that you won't see on a car driven exclusively on streets. There are other tell tale signs too and a good PPI will reveal whether it was tracked or not.
what i meant was it was driven hard and put away wet .basically it will need some work to bring it up to par .or use it as is for a track car. probably not much work
I hardly listen to what the owners have to say when I buy one. Most of them have only had the car for a short time and were lied to when they bought it. Just check out the car well and decide whether you accept the condition it's in. And the repair costs aren't that high. I just went over 76k on my 360 and the only thing that's gone bad is ignition coils after a engine wash. The clutch bearing goes bad and the timing belts need to be changed. (Way too early, in my opinion). The fluids are critical. I change the gearbox and motor oil at 6.5k. That's when synthetic oil begins to breakdown (deduced from my thorough experiments). The Royal Purple gearoil, for some reason, works the best. Wasn't my first choice, but it's what I'll always use form now on. This car is tough. I'm driving it from Los Angeles to Miami next week. It's been begging me all year and since it's been so good to me, I'll let it out this summer again.
LA to Miami ...U go BOY! ... I went from Nj to IL. Love to see people driving their cars. they will make it pass 100k miles
