No Probs Jason. Would be good to hear your thoughts on the product after you've tried it.

OK. So Mick I have some homework that you gave me. :D Sorry to take so long mate to get back to you. Just going back through the thread to make sure I answer questions. :D

Firstly the wheels, Obviously with them being magnesium it was important to have them primed immediately after being blasted, otherwise they can absord moisture and over time the paint can blister. The paint used was Glasurit and the code is 55M99-10. The guy who painted them said with the clear coat use a semi shine/satin coat. Don't use a gloss.

On the the pop rivet question, to me it just looks like a normal pop gun but apparently it's been shaved a bit here and there plus the special protective layer. :p Also the rivets are all prepped before installation. ;) I don't think I posted these pics here so here you go.

Homework completed. Must now prepare to watch Free Pactice 2 in the UK GP. ;)

Congrats Bernard. We all followed that thread. Paul went a lot further than I have with my car. You've got yourself a magnificent car there and its great to hear you're using it and more importantly its really interesting to hear from someone who has modern cars to compare to and can appreciate the older cars.

As your 308 has been restored you can probably appreciate how far advanced they must have been at the time of release. I actually had the suspension fully rebuilt before deciding to strip my car and drove it for a while and what a heap of fun the 308 is to drive. Something I think the paddle shift of the the newer cars lack. Nothing like 3 pedals. :D

    Anyway off soap box. ;)

holy cow that's gorgeous. Certainly will qualify for 'better than new' status.

Are those the stock exhaust headers with some kind of ceramic coating?

Yes, they are the original headers that have been ceramic coated.

I'll post a pic Jason. ;) I'll probably get the mechanic to take pic of me when the engine stats for the first time. That's also going to be a big smile moment.

Thank you all for your kind words and support. Should be some more pics in the coming weeks. Obviously with all the big jobs being done, there is less dramatic pics to take.

A big day today guys. :D I happened to drop off my wheels this morning on the way to work. The mechanic overseeing the project asked me to stay and help with turning over the engine (without plugs in) while he carried out tests.

After the tests were completed and he was happy he said I could start the engine. :D:D:D After 3 years you cannont begin to imagaine how excited I was. I've taken a few pictures and managed to quickly take a short video clip of the engine running briefly before it was shut down.

Sorry if I break a few computer sceens guys, but when I went round to take some pics and get some advice to help Mikey with that door problem the other day, the gearbox was about to be filled with oil, and he got me to do it. I might as well post that pic at then end.

What was the final spec on the engine. Compression and cam-wise ? Mess with cam timing at all?

Beautiful Car! Must be a blast to hear it run for the first time in such a long time.

Interesting to see that the Speedo and Rev Counter are on opposite sides compared to a LHD version.

The only mod John has been putting the high compression pistons in. The 308 is never going to be a world beater so decided to keep it standard. Did think about CAMS but was about another $10k I think.

I'll have plenty of fun with it as it is.
